December
In cold that scours me clean from lung to cheek,
December is the amber hasp of memories,
This cyclic slant of sweet leavened shadow,
Carries you from atavistic djinn of breath,
White and wanton,
This steam engine,
That shakes loose icy stalactites,
At first sly glance of dawn,
My vibrating sonar of your heart,
Fingers in your hair,
Pointing to the ardor of my waiting doorstep.
Step onto my palm,
Spirit in your tube socks,
Rockabilly rumbling round the Bluetooth cork,
In your ear.
You are everything they omit in their Bible,
Squabbling over pulpit calculus,
Forgetting the aether Ganges,
Flowing down the solemn steppes in your eyes.
..

Dear D,
Sheesh! From the first line straight through to the last this is captivating and engrossing and chock full of beautiful imagery. The second stanza especially is so very lively and full of energy.
A delight to see you and a wonderful write. H🌷

Such beautiful language! The first stanza sets a magical winter scene, and the other two just radiate love & tenderness. (The tube socks and stalactites made me picture a jogger with frost on his beard on a cold morning... though that might be far from what you intended!)
Lovely to read you again.

Thank you. 💖 It's definitely a wintery poem so that imagery works, I think its important to paint imbued images, so it's something I shoot for.

I know someone who is the master of understatement and he would simply say "This is something." And something it is. And something more. You can't teach a person to write such breadths of imagery and metaphor. It's innate.
Oh, and rockabilly is such an underused poetic word. You rock this thing they call poetry my friend.

I love the hum and chant... and of course the reading adds so much.
There is something cleansing about the cold as it devours you.
And it unlocks a time of introspection and contemplation.
The darkness and shadows preparing you for a time of renewal.
It is an ancient process that exists since the beginning of time.
I love 'atavistic', I had to look that one up to be sure the meaning.
What an incredible word. The Djinn's breath speaking riddles and wishes.
Always wanton... Nothing can stop the determination of a steam engine.
Even the ice does not slow the journey, it only transforms it.
And the heart will lead us forward into a new spring.
I must admit I love the cold and ice, that cold contemplation.
The feeling of the frigid wind on the skin is so exhilerating.
"Fingers in your hair" Oh the feeling of those tingles down the spine.
The feeling of that admiration and love is just beautiful.
That is something that will always warm the heart, making it burn bright.
Step onto my palm, spirit in your tube socks... that is so erotic to me.
I could definitely feel the lips touching the ear and..
And from there, everything they omit in thier bible unfolds.
No need for calculus or borders. Just flowing down the steppes.
Into the eyes, into... me. Really beautiful Daniel, Love it.

Thank you. 💖 You really captured the essence of what I was hoping for with this, the subtly sensual, mystical, transformative journey of life and exploring each other.

Beautifully done, Daniel. The very first line set the tone for what was to come, and it did not disappoint! The landscapes you paint with your words are always so rich and full and inviting. A truly lovely read 💖.

Thank you Walter. 💖 I had purchased the track for limited use on Soundcloud the same day I did the writing, so it seemed like they were meant to go together.

It's not in your usual style of long and elaborate but I love the impact of your words in this wonderful poem dedicated to friend and true friendship. The winter chill is at the tip each of the imagery yet there's warmth.
The light is on in this December and you hold the matches my friend to keep it warm xox

"You are everything they omit in their Bible,

Wow Im at a loss with your ridiculous words that are absolutely superb.
Thats a compliment by the way. <3
Me and my day drinker group may need to be sober to discuss this right here, This deserves the sober version, at least first. Love your ways, DC. <3
