Winter Poems
#winter
Winter poems about the coldest season of the year, December to February in the northern hemisphere and June to August in the southern hemisphere. Winter brings short dark days and stillness, as nature sleeps. Here you'll find poems about the beauty of the winter months, and also poems about dealing with cold and challenging weather.
Snowy
Snow on mountains fall
Biting wind stings nose and cheeks
Winter lingers on
Biting wind stings nose and cheeks
Winter lingers on

Monoliths
Wintry tears drip deep,
into icy, dark waters
The stream is endless,
as she came to me in the form of paradise
As I envisioned
I made a decision
Wisdom floats
as infinity awaits
into icy, dark waters
The stream is endless,
as she came to me in the form of paradise
As I envisioned
I made a decision
Wisdom floats
as infinity awaits

Frostbitten
Awoke, amid my heart, found frosting quick
Unknowing as to when I fell asleep
From winter solstice ice chill gathered thick
Supine among the alpines, eyelids creep
With crystalline-based breathless pleas to Him
As liquid past reminds to me old love
But changing winds bring forth, behind a scrim
A thawing sun, ignites to sky above
And spring brings blood red warmth to this dead heart
Lost love recalls in present veins to flow
Abundance melts steel future to depart
Into the past and fade away as snow
Just as the Winter's grip gives...

On a Weekday in Winter, Waiting
I am that glimmer on a frigid window
Through which, as the evening creeps, a bloodless sun can be seen
Slumping, as per routine, against an assemblage of begrimed bricks, concrete,
And trees that, despite their barrenness, continue to coyly undress.
Oppositely, too, there is a stale clump of sheets,
Stuck together in certain spots,
Swallowing a pair of sallow arms that pointlessly pillow a wonted vacancy,
Coiling around the legs that spread across the threadbare mattress,
And dangle low, laden with a nebulous and
Perpetually unfulfilled wanting. ...

Among the Ruins
Far away
Beyond the north winds
A pale autumn moon
Glows onto the ruins
Etched in stone
An unknown hand
Long forgotten
In the distant future
Eternal flame to the next of kin

Frozen in my cocoon
Late days sky,
Cloudy, and peering through the leaves
Winds, strong, but welcome from the Arizona heat
Wind through the Palo Verdes makes a wall of sounds
Crickets singing,
joining in harmonic convergence in my Desert, that is silently loud
Loneliness pulled from the air, a forever sound never heard
The three snowflakes and a winter leave,
They are wonderful, forming out of nowhere
Cool night blowing,
Sounds of Tucsonan stirrings
Coyote howls, Javelina grunting, picking up olives and fruits
a bat flies low, the sound of wings...

Should of used a gun instead
A 53 year old Canadian man suffering from hypothermia was hospitalized in Winnipeg after he jumped from a bridge four times. Police found him leaning over the railing of the bridge. Shivering & frostbitten, as he was about to plunge into the icy waters for the fifth time.
Despite the man's obvious determination, it is unclear why he didn't try a different method after the 1st attempt failed.

THE TRUTH OF SPRING
Time ticks faster for winter
For what's left of it,
Soon will disappear
Two seasons that bond in a locket.
Spring slowly forms a ring
Around many fields
Posies, posies as birds chirp and sing
Miles of soft warmth to blossom hills
Trees swift and dance
Leaves rhythm with winds breeze
An immaculate nominance
That triggers a serenity, Reese.
Pastels that enrich nature's touch
Easter is soon to transition its true colors
That is promised to us through Jesus's cross
Teaching us Faith,...

Ice in my veins.
I'm waiting to escape
this pit
To put it nicely it's
too dark to try to find
a way out of it yet
Humor me with guidance
eyelids closed from growing dread.
Lose myself to madness
in a boat that just won't mend.
Let the sea
just
swallow it.
Oh I know that it ain't over yet
Row down the river
just to drink it all back in.
Underwater conscious
chasing back the thoughts with lead
The water grows so cold its frozen
up and
thats

No compositions by Vivaldi
I was born in the twilight of centuries,
when the sun, tired from its journey,
sinks into the golden horizon
and the moon emerges shy and silvery.
O nature, wise and ancient,
you owe me the sighs of the trees,
and the murmur of the dancing brook.
The scents of wild flowers.
You owe me the whisper of the wind
that caresses the leaves and hair.
And the embrace of the ground, firm and welcoming,
that supports my uncertain steps.
You owe me the birdsong,
echoing valleys and mountains

From movement and ice, you sprang
Propagated by the maelstrom
Whipping shards of jagged glass
Reflecting bleached landscapes back at you
Prints covered as soon as they are made on the trek from the summit
To the peak
As what waits there is guarded by unspeakable wrath
Cold and detached from the colors it protects
Bolstered by a families never ending push downwards
Off the peaks
Into the sea
You dive deep
Deeper than most have dared to go
Deep enough that the light is lost and the pressure forces a chill...
