The Rockies

Well? Once upon a trucker's eve
and with a million miles to go
Grabbin' hard west out of Denver
and the passes were full of snow
Neither Eisenhower or Vail
were particular kind that night
Then there's galloping on tire chains
under the moon; big bulb of light

Might as well been an astronaut
as my climb plateaus near the edge
The headlights made the flakes appear
like I'm traveling through space I allege
Rosebud pucker factor 7
denim almost gnawing my seat
Bouncing up and down on air ride
my stomach and heart at my feet

As it was first safe to do so
I pulled off to throw off my gear
The eminent threat was over
the highway had turned dry and clear
The temperature still wicked though
My steaming pee turned into slush
In order to clear Grand Junction
through 70 I'd have to mush
