a moment of harmony
Some days the water
calls to me
cold breeze on my face
sand in my shoes
in the unhurried slide
down a sand dune
The sky feels like
it could go on forever
and I take in
the wonder of the
clear blue
I don't put my feet
in the water today
instead admiring
the harsh crash of waves
and how beautiful
yet merciless
the ocean can be
Bits of seaweed
and broken shells
discarded along the shoreline
a beautiful temporary history
to be buried in the sand
or washed back out
to sea
And it reminds me
everything is momentary
and fleeting
even these moments
of hardship
that drive me to the ocean
to forget
Some days the water
calls to me
and it whispers
"live for this moment"
