The Wee Bird
The Wee Bird
There is a wee bird in a cage
it’s been there all its days,
long ago it lost its voice
it wis’nae the wee birdies choice,
from its prison it sees the sky
and the wee bird dreams one day to fly,
now I know why the wee bird cries
trapped in its cage until it dies,
I wonder what it’s like to fly
and feel the world go racing by,
I’ve seen the others roll and tumble
but here I sit crushed and humble,
so fight with every bloody sinew
see beyond the bars that hold you,
every bird must stretch its wings ...

The quiet one .
It’s not in the words she says . It’s everything she doesn’t say. Her mind says yes tell it all but her heart reminds her to take the alternative route the one less traveled . Full of superfluous nouns and phrases but not one adjective and her pronouns are known as her the quiet one . It’s her in body but not in spirit. She hides in brief conversation and she knows all about the weather . She checks everyday on her safe subject matter but you will never really know her but you will see her in her bright pink rain Mac even on a sunny day . She’s already ten steps ahead while others are left...

Don’t
Let failures define your day
Let the uninhabited heart of another destroy your ability to love
Let the wounds of a collapsed past hinder your capacity to have hope
And never
Forget that you are who you are
Because you taught yourself how to rise above
It all

Let the wounds of a collapsed past hinder your capacity to have hope
And never
Forget that you are who you are
Because you taught yourself how to rise above
It all

How far can you throw
Sometimes it's cold here
embers white burning
musty smell cold dark hole
how deep do you dig
through the clay and shale rock
how deep do you dig
til you find your way home
out the front door
sun over my shoulder
ball flying high
up to the sky
hey
come out and have a catch
sorry just don't have the time ...

Tired
I’m tired
Not the throwing in the towel type
I’ve done that
Survived that
I’m tired in my heart, soul and bones
If God we’re sitting across from me
I wouldn’t have to say a thing
He knows
And he’s waiting
For me to accept being tired
So that I may get the sleep that I need
Peaceful, restful slumber
The kind that tells your bones, soul and heart
That it’s okay to be tired
That everything may not be the way that I want things to be
But that I’ve woken up to see another day
It’s when you no longer...

travelers
still lights
now lit,
dawn
or night,
the edges
of
the pavement
wet
with travelers,
their voices
like photographs
wading
through genuine

of time,
some
going forward,
some trying
to go
back,
but,
none realize
that it
doesn't matter
which
direction
they choose,
we are

stuck in
the middle.,

Less Than
There is a woman, she is two ply.
She covers the beams most beautifully for people to walk upon.
Made of oak and cedar.
No more particle board made with cheap materials.
Which caused the house to fall with the slightest of drizzle.
This time glued together using grit and oak dust.
As she loves their feet like she's supposed to. Hoping the little fractures of herself that splinter the souls of their shoes are fractals of her sisterly love dispersed amongst strangers, family, brothers, sisters.

I Watch the Night
As dawn approaches
The cold winter mountain air whispers
Everything else whether near or far is silent
Every living creature seem lost in their dreams until the break of day
The gloom of the night slowly fades away
As the dark sky begins to turn a different hue
The loneliness lurking in that stillness like a ghost
Rustles through the trees with a hum resonating through mind and time
The cold lingers with a harsh chill to the bones
While the lights from the stars languish in the distance
Soon the rest of the world will awake to...

Where I live
Used to be a farmer
Used to till the ground
Now my tractor's silent
I can faintly here the sound
That memory of my father
As I sat on his knee
While he taught me the value
Of the planted seed
Used to be a milkman
I used to be your friend
I used to be something
I'll never be again
Used to be a teacher
Used to mentor kids ...

Bubbles in Sunlight
They call
Ask when will be
the next visit
No pressure applied
Simple truth
of presence missing
Absence
deeply noticed
Something warms
In the vicinity
of broken heart
Not alone
As previously thought
There's a bubble
of something
Rising
Strongly resembling

every blooming thing
a quatrain
“Where flowers bloom, so does hope.”—Lady Bird Johnson
enthralled am i by every blooming thing
that elevates itself above hard grounds;
for, in its reverie, a golden spring
that giveth life to all with hope abounds.
fresh euphony exploding every stem,
enthralled am i by every blooming thing;
for every bloom a shining diadem
invokes from each unique orchestral string.
give me a toothless smile, and i shall sing
where tongues’ similitudes angels inspire.
enthralled am i by every blooming...

IMAGINE P.S.
Imagine there’s no races
I wonder if you dare,
No colour, size, or status,
No difference or care
Imagine all the people,
Creating life from joy, you
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
Today I call you to join us
So the world can live as one!
I wonder if you dare,
No colour, size, or status,
No difference or care
Imagine all the people,
Creating life from joy, you
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
Today I call you to join us
