His legacy in newfound wisdom

I remembered today,
about your fingers and toes
and how my own
are so very similar

how my laugh is too loud
and spirited by half
of what made you, you
a spark of inherited harsh
copied of a much too harsh

unintentional in it's abruptness
this, my momentary unforgiving
in split seconds, yet enough to scar
 lately, stopped in thought

I've learned to realize
sooner, rather than later
to catch that proclivity
hug it long and hard
and kiss it's cheek in a sort of tribute

sending it off to your place
a place from whence it originally came
letting it all go, (all the yuck)
into the ether of mixed memories
of creation itself

left only with your love
so warmed inside me
helping to enlighten a new path
finding my own way
lesser harsh but tempered in strength

Unknown lessons of and from you.

feeling your pride permeate
for I am certain
and missing you
like I always do

Yet it's tolerable
within the happiness
of these moments

with your legacy renewed

My fingernails looked just like his.... it always used to bother me, now I look down at my hands and fight tears..

My NoPoo from a few days ago

Pic from Feb 2008.
Even though that's a closed chapter in my life, that picture remains one of my absolute favorites and will always make me smile.
