Gogyoshi Poem, Nr.15 Tech Disbelief
The young guy giving the TED talk
half my age and dangerously naοve
believed the latest tech would save the world.
I can tell him theres nothing wrong with technology
except when, like religion, people believe in it.

Dear J,
Youve captured youthful enthusiasm brilliantly. Hell learn. Eventually. We all do. Wonderful write. H🌷

Thank you H, I don't mind youthful enthusiasm per se, but it's when mere logical extension gets the better of clear thinking and discernment ...
But as my mother was always telling my father regarding me & my brother -- "you can't put an old head on young shoulders". (RL 🙏)

There was even a Ted Talk about how people who listen to them don't take the advice and use the information from them.

Interesting point. Thank you Laluma. I guess it's because no-one likes to be 'told' but prefers to figure it out for themselves because otherwise we don't truly learn, we merely unthinkingly 'follow instructions'. There's more than enough of that in the world already.

Thank you -- RL 🙏 . I also noted in myself how people with differing beliefs can be unsettling to us. Isn't that strange? So the poem was one way of getting that 'unsettledness' out of my system. (Ahem)

I've always had the belief that a solar flare or some odd natural disaster might wipe away technology and send us 50 years back. Too much trust can build a false reality, I'm always thinking of contingencies or "what ifs".
Now I'm curious and I gotta find this talk.
Nicely done Josh.

(been away for 3 months) I think there were more advanced technologies we have lost in yesteryear. Contemporary engineers have no idea how many ancient temples around the world were built - and conclude they could not be built with 'modern' technology.
Can't remember the exact TED-talk. It was a long time ago -- but no down the uncritical embracing of 'technology as a saviour' is still alive and flourishing. Which is strange, given modern technology (as a form of power, and combined with runaway capitalism) seems to have caused many problems in the first place.

Tech is not always so reliable yes and shouldn't be trusted too much. Thats a great observational poem you said it aptly. Kudos!!

Thank you -- blind faith can lead to disagreeable outcomes, especially when more blind faith is urged as the solution.

Hi, thank you for commenting -- and the RL. I guess the mindset of the technological fix is alive and well.

'Ted' is a fickle lad, now he's part of the establishment, "ideas worth spreading" are somewhat predictable -- that's maybe why he irks a poetic thinker.
