Enter the Jade Temple
Peace is a temple
to which one is (re)called—
Buddha’s atelier;
an open sanctuary
of gentle acceptance
Shikishi boards
in the after light
of an open window—
Sumi-tipped bamboo
kanji calligraphy
Kuan Yin, welcoming—
her heart
a tea-stained chrysalis
of fine porcelain
We've returned in awe
to something forgotten—
a silken creation of her loom
weaving ancient knowledge
We languidly bathe
in such solace and truth

Dear A,
I have to come back to the essence of the poem itself, which on my first pass is a positive and earth centered write- which I dig, but I’m currently so enamored of the beautiful colors and picture of the goddess(?) of the accompanying pic I can’t get my mind to wrap around the words. Sorry- simple is as simple does. 🙄I’ll be back...H🌷

That's perfectly alright, Honoria. I don't think my words could do her justice regardless, but I did try. She is a beauty to behold, and a blessing to those who draw her from the deck.

I’m back. I found this piece illuminating. I didn't know Shikishi or Kuan Yin and that was interesting to read about them. There, for me, was the feeling of peace and understanding that it will be okay. There might be chaos and disorder at the moment but it will level out and I will find my quiet. My inner voice that will soothe my frazzled nerves. It was so odd my distraction for that picture. I still can’t believe I was so drawn in by the beauty of the colors. Now I’ve assimilated and let in the words it is a wonderful work. 😊H🌷

Unapologetically evocative of culture that reveres creativity and progress through honored tradition and achieving Harmony ( what is hugely lacking in our Western world ).
If I could suggest anything, it would be "(re)called—".

The words of the poem rolled off the tongue like a silken creation in itself..., uncluttered, flowing, nothing surplus - evocative of stepping into an ancient temple which has that denseness and lightness of a temple fire that has been burning continuously for 500 years (an experience in Japan 20 years ago).

Thank you, Josh. I felt like I was somewhat channeling after meditating. The smell of sage, sound of bowls, filtered light through the crystal. . .it was quite surreal.
That sounds like an amazing experience. I am sure the energy was pure.

“... the after light of an open window” is beautiful phrasing, as is “tea-stained chrysalis”. The poem captures the actually painful beauty of small domestic scenes mingled with the natural world.

This is truly outstanding and beautiful. "weaving ancient knowledge " just really embodies the concept of achieving Zen.

Re. Enter the Jade Temple
sometimes, when I listed to some Indian psy trance songs, I visualise such altars and pray with my hands wide open to the sky; I feel like I'm peeking in Shambhala's heart itself. :D So yeah, I totally feel this poem, these feelings take over me every time I imagine an altar's statue and how I put fruits around it, or flowers, cherish it, it simply is a centre of nice divine energy, I love it.! And when you sing out your whole heart, sing along with the deity and realise you are no less of a co-creator, it feels special...

Right with you, Aaron. I will never forget the first time I offered water. I went to collect it the next morning to cleanse the bowl and refill the offering, and the water was gone! It was all gone! I felt like my heart exploded! It took me a bit to realize it was seeping through the little wooden bowl very very slowly, and into the bamboo altar. LOL!
But, regardless, it was accepted and absorbed. That's what matters ( to me, anyway ).
