Hello, friends
4/9/2020
Around midday
For those on the front lines, this must be an unimaginable endurance trial, fraught with constant fear of mortality. To those working in the labs and hospitals, thank you. To those working in the stores and shipping, thank you. To those working in various departments of utilities and sanitation, thank you. Thank you will never be enough to express how much it means to the rest of us, but it is all we can offer as you keep everything going in this time of trials and loss.
We have an obligation to stay safe, use every precaution available and to use this time to the best of our ability. This obligation is not just to those striving tirelessly on our behalf. This obligation is to those who have fallen in the wake of this terrible tide. We carry on, for those who cannot.
I've come across people reacting in all sorts of ways. Defiance, skepticism, boredom, and all of these are understandable. However you feel about these times, I'd ask only a consideration for how we're in this together, all of us. I've come across people who have expressed insight and compassion that moves my heart like continents colliding.
And I would ask you to consider that this is really nothing new, the fact that we are in this together. That we always have been. That we always will be. Take heart that we are separate but united, as we walk through the hot gates together.
Together.
Stay safe, and proceed in calm abiding.
With metta,
Daniel

I just wish weeks ago people were as concerned as they are now.
We all would be in better place right now.
but personally...yesterday and today my anxiety have max'd out and i'm not handling this well.
I think i'm going to close all the curtains, pop couple more of xanax and watch a scary movie.

I like the serenity of Morpheus in the Matrix when he stands there in his bad ass black leather coat and sunglasses when he says, "Things happened the way they happened and could not have happened any other way." I hear you, but we've got to be present in the living moment. This way lies the ability to abide in calm.
*hugs*
We'll get through this sugah. One day at a time. What movie? I don't go in for horror really, but here and there I enjoy something psychologically nuanced.

i've been watching a lot of feel good movies lately.
These i highly recommend.
Molly's game, Netflix
A Ghost story, Netflix
Take me home, amazonprime
The man on the ledge, amazonprime
once upon a time in Hollywood, amazonprime
I love the matrix movies especially 1 and 2, the third was too much of everything but it was acceptable.
I like psychological movies too the kind that makes you think. The Ghost Writer was a disappointment directed by Polanski.
I don't know which scary or suspenseful movie i'll watch today. Maybe DreamHouse?

I want to see Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, but mostly because I am infatuated with Margaret Qualley. I love my ladies pale with black hair. haha
I found Eyes Wide Shut, the final masterpiece by the incredible Stanley Kubrick, to be one of my favorite suspenseful type psychological thrillers. I actually didn't like it on my first watch, but it grew on me as I began to understand it's subtly nuanced messages. The exact same thing happened when I saw There Will Be Blood. Didn't like it at first, began to understand and love it.
I'm watching Devs on Hulu lately, Psychological nuance is the entirety of it's plot essentially. I haven't seen Dream House but if it's good let me know. Netflix stock must be going through the roof. 😅

You will enjoy Once upon a time in Hollywood. Another fantasticly written directed movie by Tarantino. The guy is a genius and such a nostalgic movie of throw back hollywood greats. I don't think i've every seen characters in his previous movies where bits and parts of Tarantino's own personality were more obvious. They say this may be his last movie, if it is, it will be our loss but again, i think with this movie he captured so much of himself in there.
Eyes wide shut was epic, i remember seeing it in theatres and at that time it had mixed reviews, now its hailed as a classic multi layered movie. I think many movies are hastly judged when they're first released. Vanilla sky was another that's worth watching few times before one appreciates the depth of the story.
The machinist with Christian Bale is another fantastic movie of twist in the end, but the acting, wow, the guy actually lost so much weight to play the role, talk about dedication.
I could go on..but probably need a whole thread dedicated to fantastic movies lol

Vanilla Sky is possibly my all time favorite movie. I have had a life similar to it's central tragedy, a single day of love, lost forever, by a single foolish decision.
I actually got sick of Christian Bale after that lousy Terminator lol but I'll check it out. 💖

Such a kind soul. You have articulated, in your inimitable way, what many are feeling. It does seem that the World is fighting / grieving as ONE. I guess thousands of poems are springing from covid feculent streams. Hope a publisher sees wise to compile an anthology. Rob

I really do hope we are all realizing and connecting to our connectedness (despite my more cynical write today). Our connectedness has always been a fact, not something that just happened in the past few months. I pray that our awakening to it will help people to see how our actions and lifestyles affect others....
A good reflection. There is cause for hope, and it's best to dwell on that.

My friend messaged me something very insightful this morning about how the world is healing in this pause and we are gaining in valuable perspective. With so many ill and those we've lost, it is a tenuous thing to suggest it could have some upside, but I believe everything has some purpose, even if that purpose is difficult to divine or accept. 💖🙏🏻
My write before this was quite dark. lol we write out our thoughts and feelings, but they change like the weather, we roll with it.

It's hard to discuss without trivializing all the fear, sickness and death. I do feel, however, that things happen for a reason, and this has been a kind of meditative period of reflection, for those of us who are sequestered at home. Many people are making such amazing efforts on our behalf, that also is humbling. I hope we will be reunited and our economy allowed to flourish soon.

Thank you for writing this, Daniel.
Without our acknowledgment of the repudiation of how insufficient the hands are to keep us as human beings prevailing exists; I beg to all of us to think of all people, and what we can collectively do as a society to bring them peace. Speaking in true,
" Daniel " form..." Roll with it, lol"
Peace, Sugarh🙏
