Redwood
The symbol of infinity
Aglow on a redwood tree
Looming in Yosemite
Taller than the eye can see
I settle down, so deeply flawed
Lay aside my splintered rod
I remain rapt, and fully awed
With restored belief in Nature's God.

I'm glad I didn't overdo it for you, Sky_dancer. I took it pretty far, even for me. Thank you!

When I was last in America (20 years ago) I visited Sequoia National Park. Brought home a small section of fallen branch which I use as a 'talking stick' in our men's group. I renamed my previous house "Sequoia" after the experience of staring up and up and up - knowing that these trees never stop growing 'till eventually they topple over. They are awesome and your poem reflects that essence really well. The element of solid rhyme adds to the feel of their solidity and longevity. Nice write.

I believe you have written about nature before as well, and with true eloquence. Thank you for the sweet comment, Brenda, and inclusion in your reading list!

There’s nothing to try to lessen the way you wrote this fine piece, my crowfly friend. You got your message across of the noble giants, and the feeling of spirituality in a timeless way. I’ve been to Yosemite; the first time was before my 5th birthday, and it’s like being surrounded by Earth’s natural temple - a place of quiet worship.
Thank you for sharing, dear Thomas, and for the wonderful chat with you & devoted Ninja. xx

It sounds beautiful. I've always longed to see the great redwood forests of America.

To be adorned with the gifts of nature, and to bask in such sacredness is akin to holiness.
Such a powerful and beautiful write !
I love the way you’ve captured the essence of the aforementioned in relation to the redwoods in Yosemite, crow... 🌹

America the beautiful. No doubt about that. It is truly blessed my the heavens with everything. From the great plains, to the rocky mountains, from sea to sea. I've never been to Yosemite and, sadly, I've never been beyond the east coast. But I have read and always admired the beauty of all nature's greatness. Thank you for this beautiful description my friend.

Bravisimo Sir Crow! A wonderful ode to one of the California treasures I most miss. If one wants to achieve smallness, stand amongst the mighty redwoods.
