Warm Summer Evening

Sitting by the poolside on a warm summer evening
I tune in to everything around me
My senses heighten as darkness descend with nightfall
My ears are more sensitive to sounds at night time
Different sounds mingle in the night air

Sound of water splashing in the pool
Voices of children shouting while swimming under the evening sky
Music playing from the hotel lounge
Roar of engine from a passing airplane
And the sound of feet coming and going around me

My eyes strain to see the figure of my son in the pool
As heads bob in the water
The evening is full of life
As people come and go
Some sitting, others walking while the rest dine in the brightly lit cafe

It's the second and last day of training
And I feel the weight of the day's activities falling off my shoulders
It's time to relax and unwind
And enjoy this evening outside by the pool

My mind tries to draw inspiration
From the sights and sounds and aromas filling my senses
The evening becomes a canvas to paint my thoughts
As I write this fourth entry for the month-long journey in poetry
