Oneness
the dawn was frightened
her nakedness shown
she was vulnerable in her light
everyone knew
the trees tried to shelter her
under the shade of understanding
but she was beside herself
she had wronged the night
the moon shone in her sky by daylight
a reminder of her shame
the birds all hushed
they would not usher in this day with song
the day wept bitter tears of regret
the night her betrothed
called off their wedding
there would be no celestial oneness
with a woman who was dishonest
later the stars rose in the sky
each inscribed with her sorrow
love letters to the night
may he turn back his anger
the day burned with a passion for him
all the angels bear witness
to the pain inflicted
the dawn was pristine
the night jaded
each with a story to tell
each deeply in love with the other
the day was captivated by their creator
her head was turned one day
while he worked in the garden
writing messages on the winds
for all the mortals
her heart swell inside herself at such beauty
the night was jealous of her love for another
she argued their amor
would not be possible without him
the night relented
his heart broken without her
he could not live without
the dawn and her children
they would indeed be married
he cast all doubt into the pit of destruction
now here is wisdom
the night and day are forever joined in oneness
open your eyes and bare witness
oh mortals
