Religion Visitation
You can pour into the word “religion”
everything you hate about your life
and point to history to justify your stance
or you can see it as a call to pilgrimage
based on life-as-mystery and
express it all as some kind of mastery.

Exactly, Josh.
Religion is a personal journey back to Source.
All roads lead home.

Yes, I think that's about it - the journey home from where we started - but hopefully landing with our consciousness a bit more integrated than before.

"Religion" can be a loaded word. Gestures of faith can possess a hidden agenda based on alleged belief in the Almighty. I think those with true faith don't advertise it. They simply pray, and hope for the best.

True, those who've figured out their 'vocation' just get on with life without any need to shout anything from the roof-tops.

I agree - Agnosticism is probably the truth behind every masked profession to "know" ... holding a question for an entire life-time is the universal vocation..., a tricky journey but it avoids the evils of fundamentalism.

'a call to pilgrimage' - best way to understand religion, not as the end in itself but a means to the end of reaching out towards God. taking the baby steps on a journey.

Thank you Solomon_Song for passing by and commenting. The 'call to pilgrimage' I got a long time ago from time spent in France with the Taizé Community - although I'm no longer tied to only the Christian Way.

One of my former pastors spent at least one summer break in the Taize community during the 90s, he would play Taize chant music in our church.

I was there in the late 1980s. Brother Roger was a very special man, as were all the brothers I talked with.

"Pilgrimage"
Perfect word to describe faith. There is a currently competition about Faith and I think this would make a perfect entry.
