the last sunrise
in the pale mist, I first saw you
my eyes blink back tears
for the man with the cosmic gaze
I was sunrise on a darkened day
you were the light to guide my way
the Earth turned on its axis
and for a time you revolved around me
in my quiet time, I found God in your arms
you fed me the celestial
with ideas of the karmic wheel
I opened your mind
we were a pair fo the ages
then one-day time stopped
my heart caught in my throat
when I realized you no longer had eyes for me
a fairer lass caught your heat
she felt your flame
and you danced in hers
my skies went black that day
I raged against the deity
who brought you to me demanding why?
with ruins, I divine our future
you would not be returning
I lost you to the lady
who smelled of the sea
her tide rushed in
pulling you far from my side
inside me, I died a little
naked and alone in my sin
a woman with the sunrise in her glance
you watched on as the sun went down
never to rise again

Crimmy!! Please don't tell us you've lost your poetic ability, because that's absolutely beautiful!!
(Note: I don't think there are fairer maidens than you, but I understand the story!).
You're still the best, my friend!
Love always!
Matthew.

A powerful write Brenda - a powerful story told, engaging emotionally and stirring associations - which is the sign of a great poem. :))

A heartbreaking write, Brenda. That woman redolent of ocean tides has nothing on you. You blend the romantic with cosmic and natural imagery so well. This one tells a story better than I ever could. You have elegance, passion and style.
