nicotine

the death of polluted
phases of the moon
saw you weep

I wore a nicotine halo
stained my pale lips blue
while you watched on fooled
by my midnight sun

I captured your tears
inside a whiskey bottle
got drunk off the pain
peeing in an alley at dawn
it smelled of regret

summer saw an end
of smiles in your skies
where my love light shone

in red neon
disaster was spelled
a strobe light of warning blared

still, you came closer
smothering me with the shame
of a lover cold to the touch

spiked heels pierced your heart
as they walked out of your life
without even a casual look back
