The Presence of Marlene
Marlene passed so long ago
Her grave left unattended
A willow weeps upon the stone
And she awakens, going home
He feels her warmth between the sheets
Her scent still rare and undefined
Her touch cool but still assured
Caressing with the vigor of their past
He comes, and finds himself alone
Alive with the memory of Marlene
She was his queen but can't remain
And fades, so slowly, in the rain.
Her grave left unattended
A willow weeps upon the stone
And she awakens, going home
He feels her warmth between the sheets
Her scent still rare and undefined
Her touch cool but still assured
Caressing with the vigor of their past
He comes, and finds himself alone
Alive with the memory of Marlene
She was his queen but can't remain
And fades, so slowly, in the rain.
