Image for the poem Hanging On

Hanging On

His mind is a fragile thing
Shattered when phantasms sing
Peace left in the distant past
And stability is fading fast

The dark is there to suffocate
Stifle as the hour grows late
Dismal as the coming dawn
But, somehow, he's hanging on.
