POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
An inner passion drives me to the pen, not something that I sought, or thought was mine; and it was very late in my life when I found my joy in meter and in rhyme!
Our Moon
Remember those nights when we were teens
So very long ago?
We were chasing our randy dreams
As the full moon was aglow
Remember my junker convertible?
It was cheap, ‘cause it had no roof!
In the summer heat it was workable
Back then, teens were weather-proof
We’d find a place to park and spoon
And sometimes something more
I loved it when the full-moon shone
Je pouvais voir mon amour!
Our moon was always with us,
As we made out in that car
The roof? It was superfluous
With our moon,...

Remember my junker convertible?

The Seiđkonur
The Viking Seiđkonur, at midnight came
Alluring beauty clad in mantle blue
Translucent raiment baited graceful frame
Bewitched by all her treasures in full view
With shoulders bare and bosom pert and proud
And cold blue eyes, their glacial frost impart
By mystic lust-filled longing now endowed
She cast her spell upon my craven heart!
Not yet lost, I dared approach the witch
Too weak to thwart her carnal energies
She captured me with such a fulsome kiss
It took possession of my memories!
With lust for all eternity I’ll burn—

The Poverty of Our Reality
As childhood innocence gets snatched away
Still masked for yet another sad birthday
Kept distant from their friends and family
To bloom alone in social poverty
Division festers while our leader gloats—
The old fool cannot even read his notes!
The sainthood of his cronies self-proclaimed
Whilst propagandist hacks divert the blame
Our judgement nigh—Alas, Babylon!
Whilst mindless servile lackeys come to fawn
Our freedoms cast before a tattered throne
Whilst men of honor, stripped of armor, groan
I pray the light of truth will bring...

Hot Wassail On the Fire
(to the tune of "The House of the Rising Sun")
At Christmas time I'll buy some wine
To mull with fruit and spice—
With some cinnamon and cardamom
And grains-of-paradise
Some nutmeg seed, that's ground
To sprinkle in my cup
We'll drink it down 'till joy be found
Spirit warm us up!
Now, would you agree brown sugar's key
For holiday's delight?
Now, Eggnog is fine; but, give me wine
To toast His Holy Night
Some fresh Pineapple Juice
To make it sweeter still!
And Brandy, too; but, Rye will...

In Spite of Wrongs
For right or wrong the muse has gone
—Or rather, seldom visits
Should I hold on in spite of wrongs?
My patience has its limits
I’m still bereft from friends who’ve left
And never said goodbye
I’m still upset and won’t forget
Perhaps I, too, shall fly
—Or rather, seldom visits
Should I hold on in spite of wrongs?
My patience has its limits

Sabine
You yielded as I carried you away
My comely captive, stolen from your kin
Your eyes so bright, you blushed under my gaze
With charm, dark hair, and alabaster skin
I’ve claimed your plundered beauty as my prize
My comrades coveting your naked form
Though timid, you stand tall and dignified
Your future As A Roman now assured!
With haste I’ll kiss those lips as sweet as wine
To make you My Minerva or Athene
And take you as my wife or concubine
Forget your former life as a Sabine!
I sense ambitious yearning in your soul—
The best...

Pirate 7 - Porto Bello
quatern
When Porto Bello city fell
July 'O Sixteen Sixty-eight
We pirates took the citadels
And sealed the Spanish city’s fate
Her women raped, her menfolk slain
When Porto Bello city fell
Our cunning Captain Morgan reigned
Until the ransom paid as well
The mayor’s daughters’ fate befell
Despoiled and stripped 'o all their clothes
When Porto Bello city fell
Enslaved and sold as brothel whores
The raid, his Letter Marque forbade
Yet Henry Morgan played it well
'Ter rule Jamaica undismayed ...

I wish that life were more like chess—
Then I could make my move
But now, I’m filled with strife and stress
Because of << post removed >>
I never thought it come to this
The captured queen, withdrawn
The words she wrought we’ll surely miss
Our sky bereft of dawn
Then I could make my move
But now, I’m filled with strife and stress
Because of << post removed >>
I never thought it come to this
The captured queen, withdrawn
The words she wrought we’ll surely miss
Our sky bereft of dawn

Robin's Eggs
The nest upon my window sill
Has robin’s eggs, unhatched
This curse'd cancer rages still
I’ve fought it ‘till the last
The fucking food was tasteless crap
Until this weekend came
That’s how I know they’ve called it quits
And “hospice” is it’s name
I hold my family no ill will
‘Cause they’re as tired as me
But I regret they’ll get the bill
Long after I’m set free
I guess it's time that I give in
And push this little button
It must be morphine, makes me grin
First time since I was shut-in
I...

When the Silent Crow has Flown
I dance with him, a stranger still—
A figment of my mind
The song a hymn of meager skill—
Composed of words in rhyme
He takes the lead yet I resist—
I know this dance by heart
The words he needs cannot exist
While ink and parchment part
We dance a while
And rest a while
I struggle—What to Say?
The cat has come
And got my tongue
Perhaps another day
The dance goes on and he grows strong—
My ardor gives him strength
Each liaison gives girth and brawn—
His wit, more class and depth
...

Mama's Calling
Inner child, your mama’s calling from the past, a memory, haunting
Twenty years, unspoken longing since she passed through heaven’s door
Inner child, your mama’s singing, hear the memory, now ringing
Deep within, your tears are brimming, wishing you could sing with her
Listen to her lovely singing, raise your voice and sing with her!
Lovingly, remember her
In your mind’s eye, see her walking hand in hand, with daddy, talking
At Sears Roebuck, Christmas shopping, brought to...

Corona Virus is a Crisis
Corona virus is a crisis?
Worse than Influenza-A?
Don’t trust the bias news folk buy us
Cable news and old cliches!
This ain’t the plague, make no mistake
Except, for what “They” make of it
While congress fakes are on the take
And hide the crimes that they commit
They shot the wad on pork and fraud
To make us think they care for us
As we applaud the news facade
Of scofflaws who are treasonous!
The swamp exposed—our world explodes!
They’ve mobilized the whole deep-state!
Trump struck a nerve, must be...
