It's Independence Day and I'm up Early Deleting Poems

Poetic existentialism ... delete away Stubbles ...

The freedom to post, the freedom to delete, pretty good system ...

Love this. I have a friend who on the first of January, ceremonially burns the previous year's diary. Couldn't do that myself, the need to sometimes reconnect with the past mess, distress & good.

I agree, a diary should be kept for reference.

Some of my poems are like fast food, good going down but makes you sorry later on.  Those need to go ...

Not exactly cleaning up, just straightening out my drawers, if you will ....

I see your poems as truth of the moment in some way or another, nothing more...great way to bleed the lines before too much pressure builds up and blows your head I guess. I enjoy it for the most part. I think Bukowski was one of those who dared to say what others where keeping hidden deep inside. So he offended the hypocrites and gave satisfaction to the cowards. He was a glorious man and yet he was very missunderstood. He for sure drank a lot...I don't know about the whoring. The more one talks about it the less it goes on...

The poems.....

The poems come to me and I write them.  I never go looking for them.  Somehow they found out where I live.  Bukowski was a pioneer and a barn burner, that's for sure.  More than his content what impresses me most was his quest and thirst to write.  I like his novels a lot , Post Office and Factotum are my favs.

Buk jumpstarted me on the whole poetry thing. I listened to him and read his stuff a lot before I found the underground. I owe to him.

He was introduced to me late in life.  I get compared to him a lot so I take it as a  compliment.  I've been lucky in my short writing career, I've had inspiration and a few mentors and lots of readers.  What more can I ask ?

I wish I could be as honest as Bukowski...love his poetry. I try not to delete poems,

I like your style...keep writing - no filter.

Writing is in my core.  I wrote when I was in college and then not again for many years. I'm glad it morphed back to me.  I do greatly enjoy the process.

I don't know, Poet.  Listen to him read his poem 'Bluebird'.  That right there shows you all you need to know about how he truly felt, and why he did what he did.

My shame is ironic.  I think of myself as a gentleman, raised with good manners and the like.  Yet I am just a core Man, with all the trappings of desire, so I write them, leave most but take down some.  So in my own head, I can remain a gentleman.  Does that make sense ??

A gentleman is action. So, yes. ☺

I am a big fan of the "delete" option for certain things, such as my poems as well. Thank somebody, it is available. =)

As you know I like to write a lot of man/woman fuck and suck.  That stuff is fun for 24 hours but then a lot of it has to go.  I still think of myself as a gentleman, twisted no doubt but with good manners.

I hardly ever write when I've drunk too much.  Most of my ink comes in the early morning.  I used to drink more because I was angry or depressed. Now I drink to relax, it's better ...
