Closure pt. 2

Yet lanterns,
Continued to light our young
Neurons
Along a path through the dark,
Offering shades of hope,
Maturing children from wide eyed prey
To wolves with claws and scars

A perception of the world, perhaps tinged
With narcissism,
Yet also hued with morality and expectations
That are rarely fulfilled,
Expecting the worst, hoping to not be right,
Finding their own way
In forms of chaotic good

The older,

She's responsible, mature, her daughter first,
He's a social butterfly and an ambitious worker.

The younger,

He knows the ins and outs of the universe,
She's pure, silver tongue and golden heart.

Eyes wide open to the evil in the world,
Yet recognizing the importance of dark and light,
The very existence of both
Rogues, outside the norm,
Finding content with each other
The shared morbid pasts,
Surviving in ways that seem taboo
To anyone outside the blood.

I look at them now,
My sister, my brothers,
Laughing, smiling.

And somehow I know it'll be worth it;
For all of us.
