a serendipitous love

serendipity's blossom
fell from the tree of lies
where she was whisked away
on a delicate breeze
& then delivered into fate's hands

chance had been unkind to her
with petals wilted & bruised
she turned from the sun who nourished
closing in on herself
lest she be carelessly handled again

within the garden of hope
she was the most radiant
her glorious bloom
called to many suitors
with a song so sweet
as to charm the angels

shy fate stayed just outside the gate
listening to her music
in silence he mused
she would be worshipped
inside his kingdom

with valor he vowed
if she was but his
he would vanquish
all brambles in the land
keeping her well tended

in innocence
she gave herself to chance
& fate was deeply saddened
watching from afar
he witnessed her mistreatment

insane with grief
his beauty dying
he conjured the wind
then blew her
from the garden of deception

chance had brought her there
& while in his charge
she was becoming lifeless

fate knew he didn't have much time
before petals fell from her blossom
he then scooped her up
& fed her his divine water

now safely ensconced in his love
she again shone brightly
her beauty restored
he shut the door
on her painful memories

if you listen closely
on a quiet night
you can hear their music

in a sweet tenors voice
they are heard harmonizing
her place securely beside him

as one they adorn the tree of life
in the garden of ever after
