Pushing her into the pool and saying 'You can swim out!',isn't bad. Giving them self Belief is same dice. What a Lovely Dad!

As fate would have it she started swim lessons this past weekend.  The smallest and youngest one there, and the only girl in the group ... she out did the boys.

So, very true.  We can't tell them what to do, but encourage them we need do.
Your words remind me of a short write by  Maya Angelou where she speaks about the value of elders encouraging the youth.  She explains how as a student of dance she was stricken with stage fright right before her 1st performance. Frozen in place she would have taken flight had not for a gentle shove from a maternal relative.

Sidenote; I don't believe you belong to my FB page or not, if you do then you know I'm a part-time care taker for my 2 nieces age 7 & 10.  If your daughters are young I highly recommend the movie Alita Battle Angel.  Though I'm not a Sci-fi fan Alita is a wonderful roll model for girls.  A refreshing alternative to the Evil Mouse's 🐁 prissy princess propaganda.
