Ancient Lover

the ancient winds blow over me
carries me to the desert lands
I see the great pyramids
Cairo in your eyes

your smoky glare
takes me to foreign places
with exotic smells

I taste the flavor of you
in the poetry you write

hieroglyphs tell the tale
of an Egyptian lover
who has lay claim to my soul

charmed the great cobra
that once bedazzled me

I your gypsy
you my King
you ignite my passion
blaze a trail
where no other has been

in my silent time
you embraced me
were my only lover

& you knew me
engraved my name
on each grain of sand

we ran wild & free
before time began

I gazed into your depths
knew who I was
in the safety of your arms
in the power of your words

that resounds like thunder
yet is as gentle as a baby's breath
