Sunflower for a Day🌻
I'm always glad and fancy free
whenever on a drive I see
I've come across a pasture scene,
a sweeping vista, gold and green.
I'm in an element serene
that takes me back as a preteen,
when I would run and stalk, and climb
among the hay bales I would find.
If it had rained the night before,
I'd inhale heady scents galore
of cow manure and waving grass,
of country aromatics pass.
I hide among the flowers there
and decorate my braided hair.
You may not think that it's fine art,
I'm just a country girl at heart.

This is a great poem. Very whimsical, fresh and light. Reminds me of a time when I was in Italy with my family and we found a huge patch of sunflowers (they were gynormous). This poem so reminds me of summer. I like this a lot. Thanks for sharing. And I really like the picture as well.

Ohh, thank you, dear "es", how special is all you share and express about the way my little write has you reminisce and feel and embrace everything (and I too love the picture, thank you!). All of it is also how I felt as I wrote the piece... from the whimsy, fresh & light.

You portray all of those feelings in this piece so well. It makes me want to find that picture. Thanks again for sharing.

From the picture, to every piece of imagery... I love this picture it puts in my mind... I can't help but running it in tandem in my head with your send up of Glendale for Ms. Rocky's competition... what an amazing kid you must have been... taking on every tree and every path and every field...
I love all of this - 'makes me want to go throw myself into and roll around a newly wet field, my face in the flowers.

Ohh gosh tommycat, what a wonderful share & express for my ink of special times. How fun if you could've found a field where I was playing so free, to laugh and sing and run with me.
