poetic sanctuary
feeling adrift on a tumultuous sea
I long to send out my thoughts
on a calm ocean
the pool of poetic thought
is full of sharks and there is blood in the water
making me think it not safe to sail today
my heart is heavy
in this place we scribe out hearts desires
our madness
it's a sanctuary
that some would
think to defile
sends me into a rage
releasing a savage beast
though I don't know who to bite
so I will be keeping my eye on the sky
looking for fairer weather
to send my words sailing to the world
the inter-sea a crazy place
let my verse be balm to you on this day
the Guardians of this magical realm are sage
this place protected
the ocean now turbulent with strife
will again be like a glassy lake
reflecting beauty and brilliance
sooth the weary that enter here
a place of peace

Re. poetic sanctuary
And yes, it will be.
A beautiful write that gives this one a sense of solace offered.
Thank you, precious soul, for writing through the rage, to help bring us towards the calm that awaits in a gentle cove.

Re. poetic sanctuary
I have always believed that it was strife, not the calm
waters that weld bonds between those who are true.
For those who overcome them rise to a new level of trust -
and those who don't disintegrate in the pruning process.
The world is filled with those who agreed to rock the boat -
Not for themselves, but us, that we pass the test of love.
Lovely write, Crim. It's expressed with poise and grace.

"so I will be keeping my eye on the sky
looking for fairer weather

And "fairer weather" is exactly what is needed . . . It will give you time to reflect on ":who to bite."

Indeed Brenda, it was a sad day, especially to some of us who have seen plenty on this site...again (we can only hope) that everyone has learned something from these unfortunate events.

Well said, Crim. These seas should be tranquil, not confrontational, the ideal being one of support. So many differences of perspective and style and they all should be respected.
"it's a sanctuary

I can understand the rage, and I think the best tactic is to identify, isolate then send those defilers even deeper underground, straight into the abyss. Just let them burn (or drown). Thanks for speaking out against the asshats sniping at those with something legitimate to say.

Reading this made clearer the
sound of your voice and wings.
I am here with you in this
moment spliced vertically..
listening and smelling the salt
speak its language until fresh
and reprieved.
