The Road's End
All at once I hear your voice
And time just slips away
Nothing they could say can hold me here
Take me where I only feel
The wind across my face
Let me know there's someplace left for me ...
This road is my familiar
and I've traveled it many a day
Sometimes happy, sometimes sad
often times good and then sometimes bad
I've adapted......
..though many days
there have been so much I've wanted to change
but it seems the harder that you try sometimes
the more things stay the same
Until today.....
...something feels all together different
like there is a specter looming,
a presence lingering near
no longer my familiar
like a warm breeze whispering in my ear
it's time......
.and though I don't understand
I feel like there's an ending
to this solitary man
Things are turning slower
and though afraid, I feel at peace
All at once I hear your voice......
.....and I feel my grip begin to release
and the sounds of the road begin to diminish
and I drift away to peaceful sleep........
...time just slips away
Nothing they could say can hold me here
Take me where I only feel
The wind across my face
Let me know there's someplace left for me
