Haiyan in Memory

Greetings by heavy rain
early morn birth a storm
it thundered ripping grey skies
and drummed on rooftop heartily

Youngsters with bright eyes
tomorrow a day taken for granted
life to live love to find
for future pretty homes

Mothers holding their children
men embracing their wives
beloved and lovers, families
swept into glory in a flash

Screams of the eastern wind
vassals of the angels of death
reaping unready souls indiscriminately
the rage of Eurus flogged the east

No door frame or lentils
bore the blood of appeasement
no prophets thunder to men
of God's desire

Only a people of the land
eking a living from soil and sea
more than ten thousand lives
flushed to dusts, man's beginning

That many souls walked
the streets of Tacloban
and five others...
sombre...faces wet with tears
one year later they returned
retracing their steps
where scytheman once welded his sickle

In Sad Remembrance.
