To keep fear at bay
Pocket full of posies
Folk tale talismen
To keep the ill at bay
Ashes, ashes,
Familiar spectre
Joins in the play
We all fall down,

Death has the final say

Our Halloween theme this year was The Black Death so the poem was inspired by that.

Like this poem of yours a lot,Bloodsong! its like an old english nursery rhyme, therefor it makes it extra haunted and dark to me....

Ring Around the Rosies is an old children's rhyme that is from the Black Death. I love the sweet innocence mixed with the fact of what was happening around them crossing in something so enduring.
