POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I'm just a cowboy. I've got some stories to tell and some scores to settle.

You know when it doesn't read right
Returning to fix is half the fun
It's digital babe, no more white-out

Moody Silence
The milk in the coffee has curdled
Drinking it anyway
Too early for bourbon
Too late for love poems
Late summer air thick
Moody silence

Coffee, Love, Connection
Each morning
We share a cup of coffee together
She asks how much I want
It's usually a third, sometimes a half
Being a road salesman
Bathrooms are few and far between
It takes planning
Not rocket science, just math
Yesterday, no coffee date
Had an early morning doctor appointment
Felt incomplete
Wanting
Later in the day she texts me
Something about our dog
I tell her I missed our coffee together
It's morning again, our love, built in thirds .....

After Morning Coffee
After the bitches brew
Things take shape
Clarity
Slipping into second gear
Approaching work
Paying bills
Kiss the wife goodbye
Daily grind
On the streets
Nodding to a neighbor
Bus down 2nd Avenue
Anything is possible

Grudges, Revenge, Beauty
I love a good grudge
Well, maybe love is too strong a word
I appreciate the passion of obsession
Plotting revenge to an enemy of my state
There's beauty in the mind swamp
So taken with being wronged
A good time waster too
Better than crossword puzzles as well

quiet period
Hovering
Just beyond the hedges
Languid summer
Observing
You came to me with with a mischievous heart
Stationary now in melancholy
You made your choice
You're living with it
As am I
Prefer you amped up in bipolar sensual poses
I'll wait but not holding my breath
Hoping the mosquitoes won't bite much
I said no more poems for you
This is a narrative in drag

It's Lou Reed Day Today in New York City
Here is a repost of a narrative I wrote after Lou left us a few years ago ......
Lou Reed Never Wore Brown - R.I.P.

The original Punk
Kid from Long Island
Who blasted into our Rock psyche
Heroin
Alcohol Haze
Sweet Jane
New Sensations
Halloween
Walk on the Wild Side
You could always depend on Lou
Always in our NYC mantra
Sex
Motorcycles
Freaks
Gays before there were Gays
Hard women
Transsexual BJs
Car Dates

Caress
I reach for your tenderness
You turn on your side
We embrace in the early dawn
Long before the madness can take hold
It's simple and sweet
and necessary
Shrouded in body heat
Old marrieds
A love story
Unparalleled
Passion that breathes long
Complex in its simplicity
Grateful for each new morning
You turn on your side
We embrace in the early dawn

Coffee and Cake, Vietnam, 1966
Went to my cousin's house
to see him
After his one year tour was over
Spring of 1966
He went over as an officer
Having completed college and ROTC
My family and his, in the living room
Watching slides and having coffee and cake
Kind of like a travel log of a distant world
People, customs, villages and soldiers
Seemed kinda benign, not so bad
Till the whammo, right in our face
Dead bodies, napalm babies, carnage
We all let out a gasp, our suburban world crashing
My cousin said he didn't know those slides were...

A Collective of Love
Our love isn't measured by thrust
anymore
It's measured by understanding
and sharing
Pieces of a life so enthralling,
just brushing against each other
In the night is our erotic
Nobody can own universal romance
You take a vow and live within the glorious
and the bittersweet moments
Walking hand in hand, a union of spirits,
a collective of love
That's our love, brilliantly shining, dancing
in a summer breeze
anymore
It's measured by understanding
and sharing
Pieces of a life so enthralling,
just brushing against each other
In the night is our erotic
Nobody can own universal romance
You take a vow and live within the glorious
and the bittersweet moments
Walking hand in hand, a union of spirits,

Ass Tattoo
After our love was gone
I tattooed your name on my ass
So I could sit on you
And you could feel the weight
Of the wreckage you left behind
And I laugh to myself
When nature calls
That the scent of my mission
Will be inhaled by you
Everyday forever more
I tattooed your name on my ass
So I could sit on you
And you could feel the weight
Of the wreckage you left behind
And I laugh to myself
When nature calls
That the scent of my mission
Will be inhaled by you
Everyday forever more
