Delightfully bonkers

Madness is never silent
crucially defiant
never to rest
born to struggle
I grasp onto night
holding a place
for my own darkness
so I can appreciate the light

 
Sometimes I like to write
    to keep appetites whet with wet whit wit
And then I like to slip in
     extra quick quips drips trips dreamt
Perhaps then laugh ‘til my sides
     split and the quirks work and jerk spurt hurt
A movement meant to move
     or until my stunt stint stent is spent…

What goes in my mind
Is not that hard to find
It just takes a little curiosity and guts
I may be stuck in a grind
But I like to take the time
To share and show I’m a little nuts

There are several of us in here
Despite what you read or hear
Some personalities are hard to control
They take turns expressing
Even leaving me guessing
But some want to take over the whole role

It’s like a prison escape
Some characters can’t wait
When then some unrestrained verse is penned
And when I wake up in shock
Who the fuck let this guy talk?
Some dispositions have no filters and like to offend

Back to the drawing board
Some are yawning and bored
They want to run amuck and speak their minds
But decorum here forbids it
It’s a matter of who spits it
Because some of these fools need to be confined

I’ve been known to be a little walled
But come summer I like to go bald
It’s too damn hot so I gotta let my hair loose lose
So many of me are batty and nutty
But only one of them is an understudy
Because I need a vacation or a least take a crew’s cruise

Addicted to adverbs
Conjunctions and hyperbole
Can you believe I’ve just
Created this monstrosity

An inspired creative frenzy
Or just a crazed lunacy
Laughing maniacally
Authenticity compels me

Obsessing over misspellings
My pen is running dry in this
Grammatical maelstrom
And I’m losing the fight

Slashing run-on sentences
Wielding the editor’s knife
I fix a paraphrasing and the verse
Dissolves right before my eyes

Verbs blur into maladies
Prepositions interject and then
I’m chasing lazy subjects
Right fkn off the page’s edge

Crumbling synonyms are
Antagonizing the author
Pushing me to try harder to
Captivate a yawning audience

But I’m losing my breath
Keeping up with myself
As my mind purges so many
Paragraphs without purpose

Lacking the anecdotes now
I’m just scribbling nonsense
While delirium compounds
Every fkn last little word

Oh,
It’s just
The writer’s life for me
