A Night in the Museum
I was attending a meeting
hosting a keynote speaker
whom I did not know
During the presentation
the internet connection was lost
and I found myself sitting
next to the speaker
discussing potential options
for a better connection
A fundraiser was suggested
while he politely asked
if I was a Sociologist
At that time, the host
a gangly old man, obviously
frustrated by our discourse
abruptly blurted out:
"We don't use oracle cards...

Quantum Leap
The meditation modulates
& creates
What a thought-form
postulates
Be it
dark or light
As the electron orbits
out of sight
working wonders
as a thought-form ponders
The medium
&
The method
By which the performance
will commence
by which
the frequency will switch
And the electron
will take on
a quantum
Leap
into the
Unknown

Singing in the Rain of Tears
Miranda
Fruits crown her laughter,
Rhythms bloom in vibrant hues
Carmen sways through life.
Sumak
Voice of mountains soar,
Ancient echoes fill the air
Yma's song transcends.
Maria
Voice like a tempest,
Passion pierces through the soul
Callas reigns supreme.
Rodrigues
Fado’s voice takes flight,
Soulful tides of sorrow swell
Amália endures.
Berberian
Avant-garde takes flight,
Cathy's voice bends worlds to art
Boundless, bold,...

Black Face
Let me give you redemption.
Everytime I ride you into a tree.
You're my favorite comedian,
And my noble steed.
Those bullet holes,
Are there to remind me,
Everytime I needed you,
After doing illegal things.
The government,
is coming after me.
Let's rob a train,
like traditional theives.
You have a black face,
But no Martin Luther King!,
You're just a dumb horse,
That does illegal things.
I hope I don't get banned.
I hope my horse understands.

Ode to My Mango Tree
two decades or so, yet
ever reaching out to me
your calloused branches...
my voice and touch
carved in your aging bough,
your song when leaves rustle
in the night breeze
overwhelms my tormented soul...
o' my dearest amrapali,
more than my confidant,
you are an embodiment
of my spirit guide,
listening to my laments
and in whose silence
dwells solace-
an intercessor,
who carries my
pleas and prayers
to the universe; ...

Heaven Takes Away
Back then...
Granny had said that I was a particular child.
How I spent too much time questioning all
of the unreasonable things.
That I was tiresome to her,
when she'd take me to church, and
I wouldn't sit still while listening
to the nonsense of some mortal man
on a stage.
Because I could talk to God anytime,
without that interpreter giving me
his own version.
I'd tell granny, God doesn't see it that way.
She'd just shush me, sometimes handing me
a half-stick of gum...

Deliverance
For a long while – for decades – it was Home.
Not only in the reverent routine of Sunday mornings.
In the musical camaraderie of Tuesday evening jam sessions,
the Wednesday ladies’ earnest search for wisdom
over strong coffee and butter tarts,
the youthful commotion of Friday nights.
It became a refuge especially in
the quiet solitude of a random weekday.
Just me, the piano, and Peace –
a sanctuary that stood in stark contrast
to the inner tension of performing the role called
“good Christian woman”.

Bathroom Church
The reason I don’t go to church, because it’s full of shit
Honestly, a real man can recognize a sucka-ass pimp,
“Twisting the message of the Bible into his own word play
Seasoning the congregation for Hell every motherfuckin Sunday,
“Bible study Wednesday, fish fry Friday
Don’t come knocking on my door to preach that shit no day,
“I might be watching my Hellraiser marathon or trying to fuck
I will answer the door asshole naked and ask ‘what’s up?’
“Straight from the visual they will know shit ain’t right
And it...

I'm Awoken
Dropped commotion
Lots encoded
Fostered focus fathers no man
Got the potion
Spot your motion
Rock like oceans, rocks, and ozone
Swallow soma
Hops to load with
Common coping caught a coma
Bothered, goaded
Honored hocus
Problem pocus, pondered posing
Posture frozen
Gothic motive
Monster moment, Sodom spoken
Awful token
Drama joking
Jotted droning drawn exposes
Constant choking
Conscious omen
Offer broken thoughts, emotions ...

The Star Dream
The dream's setting
wasn't surprising
considering my Florida childhood
sand
blue sky
puffs of Cumulus clouds
Atlantic Ocean
a boy
maybe 10 years old
ran up to me
saying a star had fallen
excited
i followed him
planning to scoop it up with my shovel
into my little red pail
it would fit
because stars are small
with five points
or maybe i pictured six
since I was Jewish
we walked a ways
rounded a corner
and there before us
was a field of...

silently
weeping aberration opens her big round eyes
drinking in the night
darkness is promising
should she slip into his light
the dark vows to cover her divergent mind
her thoughts wander aimlessly
purpose and focus a shelter
she weaves her haunting story with the fabric of time
time regards her she is becoming
her heart is giving
but an imperfect soul needs testing
altering her inflections she answers the night
the moon in her eyes is awe inspiring
twining orbs rotate together
silently she sheds her...
