Defeated
What have I seen?
not actually sure
a losing team
is there a cure?
Batters could not hit
pitcher let up many runs
balls popping out of mitts
fans annoyed; this was no fun
No hope for them
fans have gone away
behind by 10
maybe some other day
Fans today were shedding tears
future days may bring applause & cheers

50 Years a Knicks Fan
Truth is they've sucked for most of those years
I've always believed
Watch every game
True New York City suffering
I can finally wear the hat again
Walk down the street proud
Nobody throwing garbage at me
Yeah that shit happens here
Now they are getting better
Nods and fist bumps when I wear the hat
Winning or losing I root
New York City tried and true
I've always believed

I can finally wear the hat again

Nobody throwing garbage at me

from the day's mixed moods :: 1-5 miscellany minimalism
1.
::this vicious thus ::
yes sir, second jabbed.
but, where are the jobs...
hmm. the real parasites
are..... _________,, you know.
2.
:: viral expressionism vs writer's block ::
love this feverish temper
i burn fluently high now...
than the wordless asphyxia
of a marooning heart.. by
the summing up chronic toxins
of a pretty veiled world's smiling
assassin acts- a slow python kill
more a sleeper cell terrorism ...

Giving Up Some Sisterly Love
I am freestyling here
Let my hometown of Philadelphia
Bring the Eagles some good cheer
Ahh..the stadium is on their feet
We fly when our team does beat
Touchdowns..we silently pray to the above
Captured by that soft Sisterly and vibing off some handsome Brotherly love
I have a bet with my bestie. the first bet out of three.
If I win all three bets we head to Dubai in November.
If she wins all three bets, I will be skiing and filming from the slopes.
The next bet takes us to Pittsburgh and...

Still Bleeding Blue
I remember it was some time in the fall
In fourth grade
Fernando came to our school
I drew a cool poster of him in a pitching windup
There were hundreds of us out in the recess yard
He walked around and shook our hands
He was so young
That was 1984
Now he’s gone
But on game 1
The team put number 34
Right behind the pitcher’s mound
And when Freddie hit that Grand Slam
It took me back to Gibson’s 9th inning blast
I was fourteen all over again
Jumping and...

Body
Every so often I’m reminded
of the fact that I have a body.
Today, it hurts.
It’s my own damn fault –
dashing through forest
up and down hills
over roots and mud
for over two hours
will do that to a body.
And I relish the feeling.
Not because I enjoy pain,
but because it means I’m still here
and I get to inhabit this miraculous form
that can smell peace in the spruce trees
see joy in ripples on the streams
and I get to test
what else it can achieve and endure.

just a game
angry, because his team had lost
a game of football, he beat
somebody up on the street who he thought supported
the other team had fans that would very likely have done the same ..

The moment of my death.
The kayak is light and so is the equipment.
I carefully Swim here,
where it's quiet and smooth.
I can't swim over the rapids though.
Now it’s time to go forward again.
Getting back into the kayak.
Seeing the violence that lays ahead.
As it calls to me in loud crashes...
But somehow suddenly the current picked up,
Although I rowed back rather,
It was too late. Dragged with force
And threw to the rapids in the waterfall.
Now no options. Only forward.
No fights, no regrets.
There is no other way, there are...

No housework done
820 steps
11:00 AM
Wasted morning (except for reading Sedaris)
Up since 4:30 AM
Throat brutally sore
Really needed sleep
Horrible dream: my 89-year-old mom standing alone with a suitcase
forlornly asking
"Where am I going?"
106 degrees
Not even noon
Air quality alert
Just like every day this summer
Crying off and on
Mostly on
Have to do something

Vegan Venus
Vegan Venus
The years gather speed like a locomotive bound for a mountain crest. Our love train rises up the pass like the little engine that could. After over a decade of crossing the great plains of marriage, we find ourselves ascending a notch lush with new growth.
“Honey, it gives me irrepressible joy to pronounce that we kicked your beef-eating habit in the ass. You haven’t eaten red meat for a decade.”
“You make rabbit food taste so savory. Never underestimate the power of a nurse who wields a vegan recipe book.”
“Yes, but you did cheat at the...
