Little Girl
I was raised by a little girl.
She was hurt,
She had bruises and cuts on her body.
We took beatings together,
She’s the only one who held me as I cried.
I was raised by a little girl,
She knew my father as a soldier.
She knew him better than I did,
Rather,
Who he used to be.
He stopped hurting us as we grew,
But she was already grown.
I was raised by a little girl,
She was the coolest person I knew.
She introduced me to good music,
She let me draw anime girls all over her...

Once I ate at a Burger King
visiting with my dear sister
We don't see each other that much
Lord only knows how I've missed her
Standing in line and cracking wise
she's older than me but shorter
Neither approached the cash register
until it came time to order
Both of us explain what we want
within the house of the Whopper
Their freaky mascot lives there too
The king that creeps out this pauper
Everything went spectacular
I don't mean to be poking fun
But the wheels came off the wagon
when she asked for hers with...

Love Will Never Die
On the night my mom passed I had a dream. In my dream was this beautiful angel with large pink wings. The angel smiled and said to me, " dry your eyes child, your mom is tired and ready to go home." NO , I screamed, this is her home!
The angel replied - follow me, there's something I want you to see.
She pointed to the left and there stood my mom in a field of wildflowers. She looked so beautiful with long dark auburn hair and not a wrinkle did I see. My mom was smiling and talking with my grandma and grandpa, aunts and uncles and my brother Joe too.

that 2nd step...
7 of 30
she stepped boldly off a cliff
eyes open wide
spreading wings untried
& my gods...
you should have seen that girl fly
in a clear blue sky she grew more confident
sure she could soar at last
but a storm blew in & she was caught in the blast
startled by sudden turbulence
she plummeted toward the ground
trembling & crumpled
heart thundering & battered
fractured wings curled protectively around
her
stability shattered
as whispers in her ear offered much needed hope ...

The Hug
It was her wedding day,
and I caught her licking the casserole dish.
She hadn't noticed that a tiny bit had fallen
leaving a stain in the middle of the neckline of her gown.
I pointed at it, as her head slowly looked down,
"Oh no," she said, grabbing a damp paper towel.
"Don't worry." I replied, as I removed a heart-shaped pin
from my blouse and pinned it over the spot on her wedding gown.
"The wedding is over, no need to worry about it now." I said.
She blushed then laughed as she gave me a sisterly hug...

The 46
Siblings on the bus, a lively scene
With laughter, chatter and joyful beam.
Together as travel, side by side,
Miles apart, yet heart to heart tied.
As we look out through the window,
The world passes us by like a show,
The bustling streets, the people and cars.
Melodies of life float in like stars.
With laughter, chatter and joyful beam.
Together as travel, side by side,
Miles apart, yet heart to heart tied.
As we look out through the window,
The world passes us by like a show,

Sister & Me
Sister & Me
Crimson tressed child
Of the copper lamplight
trades first communion lily gown
For blue nurse evening shawl
With Red Cross and
Toy stethoscope
To hear the Jazz rhythm
Of my heart
But phonograph of Brubeck
Plays our song
For our pretend Union
On altar of girlhood tears
That bears the loneliness
I too feel
While lost in boyhood dreams
Of seagulls chasing the night away
On neighborhood stoops
Where Django strums from guitars
As dawn comes with slow insistence ...

Sister
How is this my fault, I don't recall taking the blame for you
Hey little sister, why don't you think about what you do
-Before you hurt someone who cares for you
Think about what you do
Before your selfishness conquers you
Think about what you do
Don't make excuses for yourself, it doesn't really seem to help
Just think about what you do- (Chorus1)
We all see the way you manipulate all those around you
Hey little sister, why don't you think about what you do
You're out of control, with the drugs and alcohol you consume
Hey...

my auntie
My Auntie
When he entered his aunt’s basement flat
I had been in the yard when she called me in
she squatted over a bucket of water, cleaning her fanny
I handed her a towel and a bottle of spray cologne
My aunt was not like other aunts took no interest
In knitting woolly socks for African children
She was a free spirit and loved men, but she preferred
Teutonic men and disliked the Latin types, except once
When we children brought home a black cook from
A banana ship; he spent two nights in her bed but looked
pale when the captain...

the mouse
The mouse
My wife was opening the door to the verandah
when she spotted a mouse and fled to the kitchen
and shouted, “Kill it, kill it!”
I picked up the small animal hiding under a dry leaf
that had yet to be blown away, careful not to be bitten
soon the mouse relaxed in the palm of my hand.
I marvelled about this tiny thing; how did it get on
the seventh floor must have been climbing up at night
got lost or tired and rested on our terrace
There was no way I was going to kill it if there had
been hundreds of them on the terrace, I...

Alabaster : Rachel
I wish I had the words
for a better Goodbye
My sweet sister
Your plays were an extension of you
the way you swam between scenes
In hopes people wouldn’t see the real you
The dreamer, the quiet girl
whose life drains from her skin as the days pass
The acts you’ve swayed in so effortlessly
Left impressions in the wood you walked,
the shadows you casted
I can hear your voice echoing Heaven’s cathedral
I know they cannot match you,
A True Angel in the crowd of painted on wings.

Sisters Strife
Sis
I could let you back in
Just like I know
You would want
However
You are simply
Not worth
The strife
You would bring
Into my life
I could let you back in
Just like I know
You would want
However
You are simply
Not worth
The strife
You would bring
Into my life
