the tragedy is not knowing
I read a short poem
about someone who loved
the way men love
and it was like watching
an alien film with English words
because I can't say
with any conviction
that I love the way
men love
All the men in my life
love selfishly
they love controllingly
and manipulatively
they love absently
they love with blocked ears
and closed eyes
they love so neglectfully
they're always surprised
when love leaves them
like they were good men
who were done dirty
by cruel women ...

hospital days #1
Autumn came
while I was in
a temperature controlled
hospital room
with my son
I sit outside
in the cool breeze
in the wrong clothes
and drink a coffee in silence
out here there is no
beeping machines
no children crying
no sleep deprived
stressed out parents
somewhere between
the edge of tears
and ripping the universe in half
My son is sick
but so far no one can tell
us how or why
and we've been working
our way down a list
we call the process
of...

Oh, that morning dew on her lips.
Taste of her I long on my lips.
Let it be known to her,
that she is special to me.
Oh, that morning rain from her eyes.
Sight of her tears of joy in her eyes.

The Rhythm
The first time I learned to dance
Was on my father's feet.
He moved from left to right
He told me to listen to the beat.
I smiled up at him
Thinking I'd accomplished much.
He let me loose...
But too often I came unstuck!
Later, as I got older
The rhythm came easily.
Swaying from left to right had changed
And the music took hold of me.
I had a new partner now
He held me so close.
My heartbeat through a blouse
I wasn’t sure what I liked the most. ...

Why don't you disappear
Sick of your face each year
Listen to me my dear
The end is growing near
You have tried to threaten me
You have tried to destroy me
I'm stronger then you thought I would be
Open your mouth, taste my sweet addiction
Come a little closer, endure my depraved affliction
Accuracy & outcome, guided this conviction
No time for remorse, another crucifixion
Eat the bite
Rinse it down
Run for cover
Stroke the ground
Within is the rival
Must annihilate, for survival
