Dreams And Fallen Leaves
I sauntered in the old place
Looking about for that familiar
Thrice I had screamed
"I AM HERE,PLEASE DONT TEASE"
wind whistled through the old windows
Dust despair
filling this old soul
Drops from the cherry tree
pound the roof
Echoes of Her
reverberate
living proof
"Whatchya doing buddy,write anything new?"
"Sure did Mum,something for You"
Silent those strings
no
no songs heard here
Just my shuffle and the flowing tear
Still
the images
Remembering lineage
I am...

In a matriarchal society
That makes me worthless
You said
Except you are the opposite
Accept you are the opposite
That makes me worthless
You said
Except you are the opposite
Accept you are the opposite

Life
A new conception
Two mammals form a pair bond
The basis for monogamy
Friction against a membrane
Producing a sensation
Stimulation leading to a release
Contractions propel cells into tubes
Searching for fusion before they die
An ovum is penetrated
And fertilisation begins
Developing over a period of months
A heart begins to beat
Vibrations of sound can be heard
Footprints and fingerprints form
Eyes can open and close
A water breaking
Signals the start of labour
A dilation reveals...

The Suffering Ceased
She received it in her womb in joy
In bliss, she start calling it my girl or boy
She begins to vomit, praying that God may keep it save
Days were counting down, she endured it and still brave
Husband died after she conceived unborn
She was so thrive as she was passing in thorns
After six months, her womb began to bloat
Baby was enjoying inside as if it float
Kicking and boxing while its mom is in pain
Suffering today, happiness will be gained
Baby move itself round its mom's belly
While its mom was in front...

25yrs to life
forgotten memories
can't be written
they hide behind blank pages
& battle weary mornings
I toss them carelessly
into a dusty corner
to grow repressive cobwebs
over graymatter prison cells
you don't get to choose
what or who you remember
they're all condemned
guilty by association
out of body, out of mind
my children's milestones
left behind...
& those were mine
those were mine

Fearful Notes: Mother & Daughter
Dear Daughter,
Thank you for loving me through my time of treatment. With so much beauty in the world to love, how has a chemical become my destructive obsession? I’ll never understand but know now that I’ll never truly be free of it. It might be a week, month or a year, but I'm certain to fail.
I can’t live with defeat hovering in my future. I can’t know that I will put you through my failure again. I’m living each day now as if it were my last.
I love you. I want to watch more of your life but don’t know how long I can stay. Sometimes the emptiness calls...

Memories
Memories,
Hang like window dressing
Etched by indelible ink
But I think they beguile
Being sometimes overgenerous
Prodigiously persuasive
Inextricably impressionistic
This window dressing is an improvisational work of art
For one can edit , improve, reassemble
At whim in the present day ,
One subconsciously ameliorates ,
Add in embellishments ,
Subtract spoliation
Ah , now my window dressing is a
Resplendent display ,
A Ornate memorial
A nostalgic fabrication
Accessories added here and there ...

Bar Mitzvah Rituals of the Maltese Brotherhood
Bar Mitzvah Rituals of the Maltese Brotherhood
“Hey there Sherri, the fly of my son’s undies has a stain that just won’t come out. Can you work your magic and remove it?”
“Come again, isn’t he eighteen? Shouldn’t he be past that stage?”
“Don’t I wish, eighteen is the peak of their hormones.”
“Is this the same kind you had me scrub until my fingers were red last time?”
“It is only the aloe cucumber lotion. He took his underwear off before achieving ‘O’.”
“How do you know it is just lotion? Surely he didn’t tell you.”
“Believe me the scent...

Growth
Please tell me
so that I might know.
Please explain
so that I might listen.
Please show me
so that I might understand.
Please trust me
so that I might grow.

Control
No one cares
After their born
If they did
Adoption would be
Non existent
Mother Nature is shedding a tear
That’s falling
On deaf ears, as humanity takes
A step back, far to
Many years, no chance to recover
Your rights are gone
To the 12 year old rape victim
Being forced
To give birth, the single mom
Who laid with a
Man that fled in the night
The woman who
Doesn’t want kids, but is forced
To be a incubator
It’s all about control
Your rights
Are only your rights ...

Time
Time.
Do you have any to spare?
Because I ain’t got none.
From the rising of the sun
Till the moment it’s gone
I ain’t got none.
Kids growing up too fast
Time is such a thief.
My baby girl is learning to walk
She’s not yet one,
I’m in such disbelief.
She was just cradled in my arms.
So small,
So dependent.
Every time she needed me,
I was in attendance.
Nuzzled in my bosom,
content while she nursed.
She’s outgrown my lap.
Damn how this hurts.

Rise and Shine
Rise and shine my darling light
You hold the power of my soul within you
I never believed in love at first sight
Until I held you in my arms
An extension of my mind, body and soul
Only you know what my heart sounds like from the inside
You hold the power of my soul within you
I never believed in love at first sight
Until I held you in my arms
