Puzzle Pieces
Puzzle pieces in the dead of night
never seem to fit together right
too few ways it still seems
to reassemble these broken dreams
For all of these feelings are raw
having been cut by jigsaw
still tender around the edges
from all these broken pledges
Leaving me left here wary
in all of this bitterness contrary
to the world as it tries to show
me the hidden lesson I must know
Why pain is always the best teacher
in many ways the only holy preacher
to summon up another sermon
to...

Stolen Kiss
With all of this spilt ink
did you really think
that a stolen kiss
would be the last thing I’d miss

Uranium
The heaviest natural element known
My heart feels heavier and emptier still
My hollows echo with your silence
The reverberations can end me killed
Vibrate me open
Gush the lifeblood
Paint my portrait
For the Coroner's book of mugs
If time ...
I'll sign your name to it
Killed by ...
From above I look like a butterfly ...
My heart feels heavier and emptier still
My hollows echo with your silence
The reverberations can end me killed
Vibrate me open

Paint my portrait
For the Coroner's book of mugs

Freed Verse
Is it such a poetic curse
to want to write in freed verse
let the words escape
the shackles of formality
Defy conventional gravity
in the body of the write
crafted in the night
this deep scratch of quill
Rhyming now at will
where the poem desires
rekindle creative fires
those embers who remember
While I try to forget
a lifetime of regret
of guilt
of disappointment
Desiring an anointment
of some soothing balm
something to...

Snowfall
Alone
Winter cries her tears
freezing each one…
so they outlast the years

Braille
There are so many
bruises...
for one who chooses
to read the secrets
of this broken heart
he must avail
himself of braille

Moving from Emptiness
Nothing is hard to forget
especially all this regret
with its gift of displacement
more buoyant than Archimedes
A stack of old peace treaties
made with myself
meant to be left on the shelf
intended to be broken
By poetic words now spoken
but never in haste
never meant to waste
the preciousness of sound
While silence does abound
drowning out the noise
with its delicate poise
it adds to the loneliness
Beckoning me to confess
as I feel the gravity
of this hollow cavity

Iceberg
This bluish mountain of ice
is always able to spice
up the Arctic Sea
yet hiding so much like me
With more down below
than you think you already know
I always remain here
an icy secret
Never intending to melt
with every warm feeling felt
I do stay aloof
denying any such proof
For this forbidding space
is the only place
where even the bold tide
prefers to silently hide
In between each new storm
I relent against anything warm ...

Smoke
I curl myself up
lifting higher
long after the fire
has gone out
leaving just a trace
of the pretty face
who crushed me out
lifting higher
long after the fire
has gone out
leaving just a trace
of the pretty face
who crushed me out

Palpable
I feel them anew every day
while I try to make my way
scars beyond all that I see
these reminders of a lost me
Yet I cannot help but trace
recalling every single place
I bared myself to betrayal's blade
tracing each scar that it made
For it is so hard to feel
what always seems to be unreal
how love flees to the pages
of a poetry forgotten by the ages
The haunting echoes of a kiss
that I still now love to miss
how warms arms did enfold
despite all of the lies you told

Buried On The Surface
The sun walks slowly to its sepulture
in the horizon, the death of a day
as the cooling blanket of night covers
her creatures all, the beasts and the lovers
Moonlight caresses the catafalque stone
as if to query the desire to rise
whispers of the ancient ones sing to me
hymns of the lost souls, longing to be free
The night is clear though I see no starlight
wrought with the overcast of emotions
such a deluge, this downpour of desire
moving me, as sights and sounds inspire
Walking the world unseen and...
