mask off...naked eyes
I used to believe I was a master at masking
no one could read beneath my eyes
but I've recently revised my opinion
people will see what you want them to see
what they want to see
because removing the mask from view
...makes them uncomfortable
...it only leads to questions
possible expenditures of compassion
once they finally learn the answers
and let's face it...
we're all operating at maximum
not much left...
for the pain we don't have the capacity to acknowledge
if it's not our own...
...somebody else's problem...

Keep it alive
Love, in its essence, is an eternal flame
burning bright through the corridors of time.
In the quiet moments it whispers secrets
shared between souls like the rustling of leaves.
It is the meeting of hearts, unspoken understanding.
A gentle touch that speaks louder than words.
Love transcends the physical, reaching into the depths
binding us together in an unbreakable bond.
It is the comfort in the storm, a refuge.
The silent strength that holds us when we falter.
In its presence we find our truest selves.

Reassuring and safe,
I like how I can come to you -
Knowing you will never judge.
Of course you'll express your view.
But everyone follows their own path,
However stupid, however smart.
Understanding, it's what you do!
I turn to you when I feel stuck,
Cos you always have the answer -
Like someone's beautiful mama would.
You hate that expression,
But I find you endearing.
Showed my own mom your image last night -
Asked her what she thought...
'She's nice, Billy,' she said,
Despite knowing nothing...
I like how I can come to you -
Knowing you will never judge.
Of course you'll express your view.

Purple dreams
This is the land of Purple rivers
The world of violets and cool breeze
Where the wave roars, running on the shore
Life breathes universal peace there
In the Violet night, the moon glows
lights the canvas of the firmament
And with a stealthy golden ray it
illuminates the Violet world
Star glare drowns in cool water
Exciting memory with flickering
Purple dream. She comes to me,
To melt into a field of flowers
And the Violet island is calling
Reviving old hopes. Soaring weightlessly
moving...

Sitting here in this parking lot waiting
Looking at the people like insects migrating
Those same old emotions have returned, the fears, the hating
When it was just just a few weeks ago, you were all celebrating
What does it take for you all to show that you're of the same seed
A few fucking weeks to show, you're all about greed
How many of you for went a want and settled on a need
How many of you invited a homeless person over to your mega-feed
Even if Christmas was about the birth of Christ
Do you think this is the only time of the...

it's not saying cheezy, pseudo-sexy things to me
or bragging about mountains you've climbed
or that you could be in Mensa
or that everyone thinks you look younger than your age
it's not name dropping
or alluding to a high income
or even witty remarks
although those do definitely count
other things that count
are your ability to converse well on a variety of topics
the morality of your every day actions and interactions
that your imperfect looks are appealing to me
that you are a responsible person of good character
...

Get Me To The Quiet
It's the chaos that was easy
Within the turmoil
is where I've earned my keep.
I've applied;
But on my resume'
I crossed out lover
and wrote in fighter
just to stay busy.
I didn't realize how
I carried old trauma around
like rocks in my sling
Bludgeoning things, not to kill
But to soften them up
to make them chewable
Not to swallow
But to spit back out
at one's feet
Mocking their antics
of imitation love.
Later, retrospecting
Forgiving them;
They knew not how...
...

forget his attitudes on the empire
at the time he was a victorian,

what a day!
the sun was out today
smiling like a child on
the last day of school
cars zipping past cars
oblivious to their
drivers
the sun was out today
as playful as a dog fetching
a stck in some backyard
brunch was a miracle
rainbow laying across
my plate
people laughed as the sun
shined down and spirits
rose like shipwrecked
treasures
the sun was out today
and curled up into a
ball like some great
orange tabby cat on
the blue blanket of
sky
