Joey G
Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in my own mind. I’ve given plenty of examples of that already. I guess it’s important to put backstories into perspective when talking about another person. I’m talking about, Joey Graves, my former bandmate and songwriting partner.
“Joey G,” as everybody called him in our musical circle. I’ve not been fair to him or the readers here at DU. I’m guilty of telling you, why I’m pissed and disappointed at him instead of giving you the full picture.
Over time I plan to balance that out more. It wasn’t all bad as I said...

Discovery
What is the true purpose of
Me
From the day I opened my eyes
Into the unknowing world
The immediate world
Mom, Dad, and Me
Like a bud
Precious and new
Timid to push forth
On a planet that is skewed
With plans for me and you
I grow as I must
Ingest and trust information
To go on and survive
To stay here
To stay alive
Then, the brutality came.
Constant like unforgiving rain
In the form of laughter and judgment
Pain
This is just a season I must endure

utterly
dwindling thought withering in context
my mind ceases in ideas and gets angry
withdrawing from the lense
I don't wish to be observed
shaken epiphany I am cut off
from who I used to be
evolving utterly different
I wonder did that version of me die out of necessity
keening hope she was so beautiful
she was not me but I share her memories
grief burdens me, I wonder did I kill her, one thought at a time
drain her essence and discard her in the past
the present knows only me
it's a curious thing, I...

Today is World Sjögren's Day
World Sjögren's Day is celebrated annually on July 23rd as a day to spread awareness about this life-altering disease while also raising valuable funds for Sjögren's research, education, and advocacy.
It’s a day where patients are encouraged to use their voice to educate those around them and to help spread the message that Sjögren's is a serious, systemic, and prevalent disease. And it’s meant to put a face on the millions of people living with Sjögren's or who suffer with symptoms but who are not yet diagnosed.

Mother-Wound
I.
I have been blessed
with time
but find it difficult
to believe
I have been alive
almost double-over the years
my mother lived
We were not close
before she gave up the ghost
and having matured
through deep introspection
I came to know the whys
of the mother-wound
She was only 14
when she married
my father, who was 16—
normal for that period of time
Their love story was great
and lasted 20 years
ending the year

I fear no one but GOD
As I reflect upon my journey and travel and walk through this cycle of life, I fear no one but GOD ALMIGHTY for he has my life, within his precious palms of his hands. 🙏 For sure I've learned a long time ago some people's, will tell you that they got your back 🤨 but yet sometimes we question those words base upon there own actions. 🤨 Yet we try not to be negative about some people's behavior, for some people's are just creatures of habits. 🤨 That's why we have to be aware of the devil's in human skin, like snakes in the high grass waiting patiently to attack...

I AM NOT ALL MY POEMS
I continually marvel how
there is a tendency to equate
or judge poets to be what they
write about. I plead not guilty
to that charge. Rarely, if ever
"I am what or who I write about."
I once read there are 168 poetry
writing styles. In college I was
taught there were 29.
I know most forms of literature
has a way of drawing the reader
into the text creating opinions,
and even identity and pros and
cons conclusion about the writer.
I, as most of us tend to do, draw
on personal observations, imaginary ...

haunting mausoleums of a struck-over castaway past, in an irredeemable burial for best
rinsing~ sunglare irises
illumine as miniature~ bubbling
suns of a sinless innocence
in multiplying- the stardust
in Brownian swims..
they effortlessly
run past the speeding
'highways' abuzz.. roads- neither
in signs of a slowing down patience
nor in boldening splash of even
a slightly hearty tinge of
any inborne artistry...
mere an endless black edifice
of a rolling flat open~ declarative
monotony of paid carriages
to stuffed~ cabin destinations

Thirty Pieces of Silver
For this
paltry sum
I’d throw
away
my
morality.
Is this, truly, who I am?
I ponder
the query
hoping not
but…
The sun
shines
brightly
as if oblivious
to my
deliberately
delicate
mental debate.
Turning a corner,
the dawning
of a new vision
sheds clarity
on an old
desire.
Yet,
the heart
pounds
stronger
for what
it’s been
denied.
Plucking
daisy petals
“I will do” ...
paltry sum
I’d throw
away
my
morality.

ALL OF A SUDDEN
Buried and still breathing inside this sand dune..
Show me the new things that you know under this shining sun..
We are sighting this moon at noon..
So, tell me all the new things which you know under a shining sun..
Inside this grave me and all these creatures lying you all know this Canned Sardines..
Inside here, right here am their Prison Warden..
Relentlessly praying and sobbing at the same time to one day touch the door steps of Eden's Garden..
While this got written I don't actually...
