tide out
gulls aren't like pigeons,
they don't move aside as you walk down the street, but stare
as though up for a fight

as though up for a fight

bird in her nest
look up,
high up,
hid from
the
summer
heat
in the
treetop's
shadow,
there is
a small
nest,
i see
bright
feathers
half hid,
the bird
is
composed
within,
her mind
on an
upcoming
journey,
then she
disappears
into a
silent
evening.

Love...elusive
Love met me
at my heart's doorsteps
She was like a bird
feathered in red
at my heart's doorsteps
She was like a bird
feathered in red

Son of Costa Rica
Leads us down river path
With angelic sun smile
He points to howler monkeys
Climbing high in trees
Where dreams bloom
His soul steeped in coffee
As he unpeels banana blossom
Until we arrive at time’s beginning
Where cool water flows
Over rocky stream bed
Our plastic raft
Takes us into deepening sunshine
Like a leaf broken from
A rubber plant stem
To float down the watercourse way
Until a flock of dark feathered birds
Gathered on shore ...

The Missing Link
The tree and the bird
the bee and the flower
the sun and the moon
the heat and the shower
The silence and the sound
the ear and the music
the heart and the feeling
the brain and the thinking
The wild and the wise
The Human and Nature
the wild is inborn
the wise is artificial
From the wild comes the rule
Into the wise mind instilled
While the city is the filter
The rules then, are broken
Nature's facts disfigured
all the trees became timber
the animals...

Beach Raven Souls
The sea drys it's lips upon the land
The clouds look like they want to cry
The plastic cultures of the damned
Weave beneath a cameras eye
Greyed black feathers bend and spread
Their Talons perch upon the shore
Greyed black feathers unconquered
Beach raven souls for evermore
The clouds look like they want to cry
The plastic cultures of the damned
Weave beneath a cameras eye
Greyed black feathers bend and spread
Their Talons perch upon the shore
Greyed black feathers unconquered
Beach raven souls for evermore

Majesty of the Eagle
Through dense green webs of ancient forest's breath,
The eagle glides, a shadow marked by death,
Its talons strike, a silent end to life’s caress.
Above the plains where golden grasses sweep,
Its wings command the winds, vast skies they reap,
A sovereign hunter, boundless strength, and ceaseless quest.
From Andes' heights where harpy eagles reign,
To open skies where crowned kings stake their claim,
Their gaze, a spear, pierces time's eternal crest.
No backward glance betrays their calculated strike,
Their flight an arc,...

The Woodpeckers
two brothers in a distant woodland lived
a bird duke named Sir Woody Woodpecker
and his handsome brother Wordy
but all they did was bicker
they used to share a nest
with their tired exhausted parents
were they glad when the brothers flew
Mr and Mrs Woodpecker celebrated with many pints
The two brothers didn't see eye to eye
they couldn't agree on anything
they fought noisily, with much enmity
they slapped each other with their wings
Woody the noble was very nice
believed in joy and love and endless embrace ...

The rain wears me down
the way water wears away stone
It's hard to smile
when everything is cold and wet
mold climbing the walls
exacerbating the tightness
in my chest
that wakes me up at night
with worries I can't control
Grey skies echo
out my windows
and speak to me in nothings
the emptiness only broken
by the colours of birds
sheltering on my balcony railing
shaking off the rain
twittering at each other
and eating popcorn
I deliberately dropped yesterday
I smile every...

There was a robin today.
Not massive news I know,
but they say those who have passed
fly in on wings, and I knew you’d arrived
for a laugh, or quite possibly
the sausage roll crumbs dusting the path
‘cause I remembered you saying
the good people at Greggs must fill them
with crack, and I’m carnivore enough
not to argue the toss over calories.
Did you arrive because at that moment
I was thinking of your reaction
to my clothes folded neatly next to me
on a hospital chair. How you’d of made
a wild fuss about trademarking for sure, ...

Keeping Still
flocks of starlings in the sky
diving, weaving low then high
unseen patterns in the air
lingering everywhere
as butterflies keep fluttering
flower to flower...all within
this moment we each share,
unseen patterns in the air
unseen forces from deep space
penetrate us as we taste
electricity from the Sun
energizing everyone
butterflies and birds in flight
all the creatures of the night
everyone on Earth entwined
in just one collective mind
bees and whales and ticks and fleas
Monarch...
