Happy you liked image.
And technically, they're angle quotes or single
guillemets (doubles being these guys: « » ).
The French are quite fond of them. I use them
because they're a lot cheaper than spending
years developing an individual 'voice'.
But yes, I sometimes read them as such. My ego
interprets them as anything that comes before
my poem's title is less than it and it is greater
than everything that comes after it. Unfortunately,
this includes the body of my poem.
P.S. Real reason from long ago: To be able to
easily parse my poem titles from large text docs.

Why in the hell would you give up the real reason? I came back here like, five times trying to unravel the mystery of the panties.
I thought at first you were using them as single quotes, but that just didn't work with the first line.
I actually looked up angle quotes, and I couldn't figure out how they would fit.
So I gave up and was all like, huh, the simplest answer is greater than/less than. So... let's go with that.
I was all like... holy damn that's so. damn. smart.
Now you're like, "Well, I couldn't find my crap any other way." And I'm seriously suffering from disillusionment.
I want my admission fee back. And a slurpee. I want a dang slurpee.
(just kidding. Sort of. Thanks for the explanation.) B

I like how It`s not just plain words; there seems to be the illusion of movement.
