Image for the poem hopeful

hopeful

the outlandish keeps calling upon me
the corrupt thoughts of a natural witch
not sure of my calling
restless spirits are drawn to me
with the knowledge I can hear them

sweet is the treasure of wisdom
turning the pages while I fine-tune
memories are stirred

Sage advice is given
my hopes are rising
skyward I spy some clouds
their formations are dreamy
they could be anything

my flowers are cheerful
and my trees are steadfast
they stay out of the gossip
unless the little black birds come by
and the gossip is irresistible

there are fey creatures
that guard the garden
everything is singing in harmony

I get out of tune
and must be reminded
all that I've been given
it is selfish

rising to the heavens on a hopeful cloud
is my thank you
