A deer in the headlights
Lance Lyde of Vermont struck a deer on Highway 2. Not sure whether the deer was dead, the distraught man quickly got out of his truck and went to render aid. Just then, another car coming from the opposite direction hit the deer again. Lyde was impaled by the deer's antlers, killing him and whatever might have been left of the deer.

I witnessed a deer getting hit in Virginia years ago... had the same thought... put on my hazards to warn other drivers behind me... scary

A situation like my story or yours can become quite dangerous. You were smart to put your hazards on.

I just saw a mom and baby deer the other day. I can't imagine hitting a deer, trying to help and getting impaled..
That is a harsh fate
Well written.

Sadly it happens often. If these docile creatures would just look both ways before crossing a street.

Hahaha this reminds me of that youtube video where a family released a wild rabbit that they nursed back to health and was immediately grabbed by a hawk and killed. So random!
