You
Reassuring and safe,
I like how I can come to you -
Knowing you will never judge.
Of course you'll express your view.
But everyone follows their own path,
However stupid, however smart.
Understanding, it's what you do!
I turn to you when I feel stuck,
Cos you always have the answer -
Like someone's beautiful mama would.
You hate that expression,
But I find you endearing.
Showed my own mom your image last night -
Asked her what she thought...
'She's nice, Billy,' she said,
Despite knowing nothing about you.
I'd say she's a good judge of character...
Wouldn't you?
I like how I can come to you -
Knowing you will never judge.
Of course you'll express your view.
But everyone follows their own path,
However stupid, however smart.
Understanding, it's what you do!
I turn to you when I feel stuck,
Cos you always have the answer -
Like someone's beautiful mama would.
You hate that expression,
But I find you endearing.

Author's Note
(265) Artwork carefully chosen in case I came across a bit too 'Norman Bates' or soppy. Haha! Originally, this wasn't meant as a counselling session with my psychologist, it just became one. Sorta has that 'mutual therapy' aspect & feels like it's us on our 1st date, lol. She's also a great listener!

Haha! I had to chuckle at your pessimism there, Colin but find myself in total agreement. Thanks for giving me a laugh this evening, sir. ;-)

* She's paid to be a good listener?! Lol. Or is this more a friend with a friend encounter? The attached pic throws me off probably.
Totally a side note; I once told a friend, who was constantly going to her psychiatrist, that he didn't want her to actually get too better. Because then he couldn't make any money off her.
I always wondered about that.
Sounds like you have a cozy situation over there. But keep your feelings neutral for a bit. Otherwise things could get swayed in a non progressive way?!
Good luck with the outcome!

Re: Re. You
Lol, Styxian. I like your story about the client not progressing in order to be milked out of more cash. It's terrible really but I can believe it! This is more of a friend on friend situation that I have compared to being like a therapy session because real friends do benefit us in that way, i.e, NOT unlike a therapist, right? Thanks for the feedback my friend. 😊

Dude, if a friend pulls out a clipboard and takes notes, they are truly dedicated!
(It's also evidence against you later on! Lol)

Hey, I wrote one called 'You' a little while back. :)
It was also about trust and feeling a connection.
Norman Bates. lol Yeah I can see what you mean...
Norma "She's nice, Billy" and then the shower scene. :p
You know she is a great judge of character...
And the three way multiple personality sure keeps things interesting.
But not to worry I don't judge. ;) And I will bring a clipboard.
I make a really bad patient but I am a really good therapist.
Because I will listen with understanding.
When a first date has that mutual therapy aspect at least you have something in common.
You know you both are crazy so it's that much more exciting. ;)
Having someone to turn to who will help you find the answer is beautiful.
It's such a nice theme of comfort, trust, and non-judgmental support.
Endearing is sweet. And I know she loves this. ;)

Re. You
Thank you, KristinaX. You're definitely reading too much into the 3-way personality thing, lol, although that's my fault cos I did encourage you to write a detailed, almost forensic, report on this. I'm glad you touched on the softer aspects of the piece in your final analysis, as that was the overall effect I was after. But yes, I can accept that we're both a little crazy but I think there's a new found stability there too & it's not even the boring kind! I will definitely take a look at the poem you mentioned. P.S, I see I've already commented on your 'You' poem as it must have grabbed me by the boll@*ks (in a good way) back in April '23. Incidentally, I wrote mine just last month along with a couple of others, relating to climate change & the mystery of attraction. 😊

Well you knew I would get the Norman Bates connection and just had to explore that deeper. ;) But yes I wanted to make sure I captured the softer aspects, the softer side of Billy is wonderful too... I agree there is some stability in crazy! I am glad my 'You' poem grabbed you in a good way. ;) Ah, the Mystery of attraction is always a great inspiration for poems. Climate change... a lot going on there too.... Hurricane/Tropical storm hitting California, Fires in Hawaii and Canada, flooding, etc.

No, it's very true. If the child is happy, the mother will be happy because she puts the child's welfare before her own.
Re. You
You are showing your lovely characteristics from this poem. I love the positive word choices that make me believe there are still lots of wonderful people existing.

Reassuring and safe. Knowing I can come to you and you won't judge. Wow. To have someone in your life like that must be quite awesome. I wouldn't know but I love this...I envy the person its for or about. Or admire them.

I love this. I’ve never had any nice friends. They usually talk about me behind my back. This made me feel like I might have a friend somewhere.
