Lion Tub
You're the only one I know
that bathes in swirling darkness.
It's your ebony hair, murking the depths
Coloring the lion-tub water
into something sinister.
Supported by its four paws,
it holds itself up, and open to you.
In this low light,
it absorbs the night, around you.
Its back is broken, widened
into a pool, for the blood of rain
as you languish from its mouth
to its hind quarters.
It had roared, at first
a deep throated metallic growl.
But as it bled, as bathwater for you
the clamor died down, to a purr
into once a minute drips.
Then you stabbed your toe
into its mouth
It gurgled, for its last release.
Here, where you display
what makes men wild
-What makes their wilderness want inside.
Here, where everything stops
and watches you,
there is only me, but
I feel suddenly crowded, how
what's inside me wants to come out.
I'm surrounded by steam, standing
as you come clean
Little splashes lapping at the commotion
as your hand grips the iron spine
of the lion
As I beg, not to be a bystander.
No moon, to milk-white this sheen
Just the wet gold of your skin
as your hands rub your legs.
Displayed, within the spread ribs
of what once was a mighty carnivore.
Now it's tamed, by your journey
of spotless to tainted
within the temperament of the furious water
that you've caused it.
What of I.
I hold the towel away from you
Make you walk to me
Crossing the cold tiles
and cursing me
Yes. Yes I'm all those things.
The lion let's go his liquid sighs
Now hollow, used, but satisfied.
I notice how your hair
is welded down your back
Dark tracks, like old rakings
from demonic claws
That will heal soon enough
into curling vines
But you know I will replace them
with red lines, raised in lust.
As you cry out, into whimpers
I lick every wound I cause
Mostly the weeping one, always aching
like a wild creature that you cage
Sometimes slumbering, until now.
I will fight it, with my mouth.
Splitting you open, as payback
to how you suffered the lion
Muted his roars underwater
when your antics amplified
what he thought would be
a relaxing current.
What of I.
I do not turn off
I am not bolted
I will chase the wildness
back into you.
And hand you the moon
in handfuls of marbles
melted by the shimmer of heat
within your secret volcanics
seeping out of the darkness
of your burgeoning midnight.
What of, again the howl
of a hollow lion...
Let's go pamper him.
We can rub his back
with our forth
As his paws claw
at the floor.

This is really quite incredible, Styxian. The way you weave your words is something really special. All in, the water’s fine.

Thanks Luna. I tried! I'm not too good at "erotic" writing. But I figured I'd take a stab at it. Just to stir things up a bit. Lol.

Dear S,
This is very inviting for sure. I totally loved the imagery created for the tub. The heat between the two lead characters needs a fire extinguisher!
I totally enjoyed this! Wonderful write to ignite the flames of poetic passion and super supportive in PoetSpeaks call for poems! H🌷

I can't help but feel that I've exploited myself...all for the sake of entertainment! Where's the meaning!
Okay a bit more seriously. Thank you graciously, H. I was trying my limited damnedest to write something with some steam to it. It's definitely not my strength. But eh, practice makes perfect!

When I get added (without my permission and against my will) to a fb messenger group chat, I say, I don't remember getting in this hot tub! Then I immediately remove myself. Lol
It's great to see some writing from your thoughtful pen. Terrific pace to your voice, great use of descriptors to lend the writing dimensions.

I haven't been near Facebook in about a year. Blah. And that was just to update my marital status to "she outta here". Lol.
Thank you Daniel. This was my attempt at being steamy. Lol. All for the sake of waking the place up a bit more. Now I will return to my normal doom and gloom shitty romanticism stuff. Lol.

I had a similar intention with the collaborations, to revitalize the site a bit, I think it was successful. Looking forward to the next.

No lion tub for me, just a cold shower. That was seriously erotic. Absolutely beautiful.

Well thank you! I actually get a little shy when I try my hand at such types of writing. I'm more "heady" than physical, when I write. Probably pretty obvious. But it's in there, all the same. Just a matter of getting it in writing well enough. So I appreciate greatly you calling it erotic! I tried!

Hey pimp daddy, I want my cut! Don't be thinking this was a freebie! Lol.
And oh, trust me. I disappoint! I actually have a cold right now, and lose weight from getting sick really fast. Blame the missing lymph nodes. I have to try hard to keep weight on, my whole adult life. Too many wrecks, bad luck, tumors, etc etc.
Sorry, too much info. Too much whining! Lol.
I'm glad that I could help out, in my own little way. Now it's everyone else's turn!

I have to admit something. Kind of a kink maybe...
I love love wet hair! It's so fluid in its motions.
Maybe it's a water thing. I am a swimming-holic. Lol.
Thanks, you. And keep doing what you do, on your page.

Some can. Some can't. You most definitely can Styx. The ability to capture vulnerability, strength and insight is a rare trinity in male writers. Always a pleasure to read your stanzas. Rob

Thank you Rob. I edited the hell out of this one. Trying to get to a point to where I thought it was worth sharing. It isn't my norm, by far. At least it doesn't feel as such.
So thank you for the encouraging words. It gets me to relax a little, over my worries of being good enough.

Well, thank you for your sight! And you are damn sure close on what I was visioning when I wrote it. I am all about symbolism and metaphors, in my writes. I don't have a great vocabulary (or grammar) in my arsenal. So I work with what I got. In a sense, it can make me seem lazy about writing. But, I have a day job and other hobbies to tend to. So, sometimes it's like I'm writing a descriptive conversation, just less formal. Yeah?
At any rate, I appreciate being judged by my peers here. I'm not one of those who say "I write for me". I write to the group. Because I want back what they have to offer as well.
That's why we give a shit. "Me" is a lonely as hell writer, without one another.

Hey, I sacrifice skin and ink at times, for the good of the group. Obviously, pick what appeals to you and discard the rest. Lol.
Good to see you in here by the way, Alviola. Your poetic contributions are important as hell to me. No fluff.

Re. Lion Tub
First off... Well howdy do!! Hope you've been well, my friend.
(And really, also firstly.) ... No one mentioned the included pic you so generously chose to accompany your ink!!?? I mean, seriously!?! The still damp, somewhat incognito yet still with a complete full dose of 'come hither' that I'll freely admit to taking a loooong meaningful gander at ... lol.....I guess we're all supposed to be so enamored by your excellent writing (and of course it is) and how you've managed to captivate our imaginations with such abundant creativity via your descriptiveness, the strength of desire, the harsh realities of aging and the various ways of fighting to understand one's own self; mingled with a very poignantly sexy metaphoric tenderness, to notice the Styxian beefcake before us!! ..... Huh, well I did!!... And Hubba Hubba! *wink*.... hahaha...
Thanks for that little gift, it's very much appreciated!
Seriously, I love how you always ALWAYS excel with your brand of beautifully enigmatic storytelling that's so rich and emotionally wrought. There's a true wellspring of excellency within your heart and soul that gently bleeds out from the ink you spill. It's such a pleasure that we get the opportunity to experience these gorgeous glimpses that we do.
Thank you for being here and making my dark days a little bit brighter with your sharing.
I Miss you.
Much love and deep reverence/appreciation,
🌹💙 💙

Well hello, Smooth Velvette.
Did you ever get a present and the gift wrapping is actually better than the gift? So, you gently remove it, fold it up, and put it away for a future use? While the gift itself is nice, but probably just adequate, and is not thought of for much more than that.
Your comment is that kind of gift wrapping. I need to write a better something to earn it.
I'm almost over my cold, flu, bug, whatever it's going by. Lol. I was due. I talked too much crap about not being sick in a long time. When I asked for immortality, I didnt anticipate the crappy parts too. Lol.
(You don't have to miss me, or I-you, if you stick around more!)

The metaphor here is strong. I was fearing the second I saw a lion metaphor that it was going to go for the obvious, but I ended up picturing the sleek movement of the lion. I felt myself transformed to the way its body moves; how it holds itself. Its dagger eyes. And then I lost myself for about twenty minutes and eventually came back to Reading List this.
A great twist on traditional ‘erotica’ that is absolutely worth the read.

Cool comment, Morbs.
This started out pretty generic in my head. "Woman in a tub". Then the whole vision of her hair swirling around, in the current. How it made me feel wild. And, and, well yeah.
I totally get what you mean about fearing "lion poem". Not this time. LOL. I needed a wild animal to represent the nature of this. But didn't want it to be too much of a main subject.
Thank you, for your RL and your explanation. It was pretty thought inducing back to me. I appreciate it.
