Haiku/Senryu, Nr.10 — Strange Concept

Dear J,

I don’t think this is a strange concept anymore. Feels more like the norm. Incredible observation and emerging truth in your poem, as per. Terrific write. H🌷

Thank you H, I'm sure it's not a 'strange concept' to tech-giants; it's their main strategic goal. Having declared war on Nature centuries ago, I think they have forgotten that we are part of Nature. I object to the fall-out they are creating.

Greed and myopic self interest have already begun our destruction.

You are right Daniel, it seems Western Civilisation is in terminal decline and we happen to be living through it - as has been the experience of many before us when civilisations collapse. ("History repeats itself; no-one listens").

To be amidst it and still, day by day, life goes on, we focus on our wellness, making the bills each month, aware of everything unraveling. It's so difficult to really accept the scale of it.

"... life goes on ..." indeed, whilst all is unravelling before our eyes.

reminds me of Robert Frost, when intervewed in his late eighties, was asked what he had leaned about life. He replied "it goes on". So true.

Hello Mel, thank you for commenting. And you are right. Technology will not save us from ourselves - that we have to do by facing our own trauma, karma and inner demons - easily enough to keep one busy for a whole lifetime. I hope you are doing well, and all the best for 2023.

I guess it can feel no longer strange when the big-tech media machine has 'sold' to the masses the idea that "technology is progress" no matter what, and that Technology will somehow magically save the situation - having largely created it in the first place. Thought provoking spill.

Thank you Wally. It seems that in the past, other cultures subsumed technology as 'in the service of' and 'co-operating with' Nature. But the last 500 years it has been to dominate Nature, making a hell of a mess. And also forgetting that an attempt to dominate Nature goes hand-in-hand with an attempt to dominate humans since we humans are part of Nature - (that's my theory anyway this Sunday morning).
