It's so funny how you think you can see me
But I bleed before a crowd
They wade through my blood
Blame it on the flood
I am unseen
As they walk through me
I am a ghost
In the host of dead believers
But I bleed before a crowd
They wade through my blood
Blame it on the flood
I am unseen
As they walk through me
I am a ghost
In the host of dead believers

Villanelle Nr.25 — Gaza Stripped
In a couple of years on the Gaza Strip
sea-view apartments will slowly arise
owned by the wealthy…, and ever so hip
Palestinian blood? Merely a blip
of history’s shit with the media lies
in a couple of years on the Gaza Strip
And then will arrive a cruise-liner-ship
spilling its tourists and drug-lords and spies
all posing as wealthy, dressed ever so hip
The past will be screwed through a tightened lip
which views as taboo the carnage and cries
in a couple of years on the Gaza Strip
The vile God of...

Sticks, & Stones (WWIIII?)
We haven't yet peaked
When it comes to mankinds brutal
And destructive nature
(No nurturing)
It's lurking
Like a ticking time-bomb
There'll be no theories
About this big bang
As there'll be no-one around
To theorise
Any survivors
Will be to busy fighting mini wars
To have time to think
And when all the ammunition runs out
Those remaining
Will have to make do
With sticks, and stones.....

Savaged
Watch the sky darkening
Light dissipates
Pulled,
as if in a vacuum of emotional states
Perfect days get crushed
Memories fizzle on the fire of progress
I’m a fool as I watch you undress
Savage thoughts poison my soul
All around is mayhem
The boys, how you love to stare at them
They’ll break your heart
Fumbling in your petticoats
We’re just like the sheep and the goats
Playing a stupid game of division
Pretending to believe in something
… in anything
Just let it come ...

The Things I Did
He joined the Marines at eighteen. A soldier through and through. He was tall, sturdy and always friendly. Daniel was my neighbor for nearly five years. He had moved from the high desert to the suburbs of L.A. so he could be closer to his grown children.
“I have six” he once told me. “Seven” he corrected himself a second later. Two from three ex-wives and one boy whom he had picked up during a mission while his platoon was making their way through the country side in Vietnam in early ‘73. The village had been raided just a few days before they got there. There were bodies...

Training Mission South Pole
Stationed off the grid
Population under 50
CIA comrades
Hookers wearing a wire
Granola with Wild Turkey 101
Booting Heroin speedballs
A life we chose
Exile from normal
No filter
Penguin Bar after dark
No cover
Juke box takes coins only
Black night
No stars
The color of salvation
BBQ with the enemy tonight
Tomorrow is cancelled

Young Sniper Preparing
The young soldier, Pavel, reclined on his bunk, the sterile light casting a pallid glow over the cramped quarters. His mind wandered to Alexandria, his lover since high school. She had sent him an email earlier that week, her words filled with longing and assurances of love and a revealing photo. But the miles between them were vast, and the silence of the nights was louder than the sporadic thunder of distant artillery.
Pavel’s fingers traced the cold, precise edges of the SV-98 sniper rifle that lay beside him. The government had spared no expense in arming him with this...

A Fallowless Field
What cursed plain, where blood doth ever flow
And war’s unending wrath shall never cease?
A field where neither time nor mercy show
But reeks with death and mocks the hope of peace
Beneath the sky, now ever bruised and torn
The soil drinks deep the ichor of the slain
Each blade of grass a dagger, sharply worn
Each breath of wind a soldier’s dying pain
The sun doth hide its face in shamed retreat
As clouds of ash and smoke obscure the day
The earth, a grave where foes and comrades meet
In crimson tides their flesh shall...

a contemplative, conflicted, gay, unhappy man
siegfried sassoon was brave, not just
in the war, but in his head, and I
wish he hadn’t liked fox hunting
as much as he did, but I like to think
“it had little to do with the killing,” I like
to think he’d have said
