POETRY POSSESSED

REALITY

You have heard of
"demon-possessed"
BUT
have you heard of
"poetry possessed"?
It won't leave you alone;
it drums the halls of
your mind during the day;
it dogs you preventing
you from falling asleep.
In your waken hours it
sends a barrage of ideas
seeking attention.
You try to ignore it, deny it,
and promise to respond later.
POETRY!
You can't finish your meal, you
use a napkin to jot down the
words, ideas, and suggestions
given by your Muse.
YOU
call on your exorcist who
guides you in finally letting go
of the poem that has possessed
you, BUT the freedom is shortlived
as poetry haunts and possesses
you again--you must and will respond.
