Multiple booms felt from around the world
Loss of life on a large scale happened
Years of wrath was unfurled
Answering the call for many was what was wanted
 
Fast forward 20 years
Without strategy we were ordered to leave
Seen within their eyes was the afghani’s fears
Loss of life, ordered no response was all there was to see
 
A feeling of emptiness
Years of sacrifice flushed down the toilet
Beheadings at the gate and all were innocent
Answers were needed but the back of his head is all we would get
 
My buddies are struggling
Coping with atrocities
Seemed it was all for nothing
A “leader” made the choice that their lives were worth juggling
 
Not even our allies can make sense of it
We will eventually be right back in that sand pit
