Destined To Finish First At Last
Young and wise
King Henry Five
with might didst proclaim
*“the gentler gamester
is the soonest winner.”
commanding
that his army strive
to treat
their foe with favor
come now winning times
much sooner than later
when like altruism
fills all hearts and minds
Today, lamentably,
that peaceable player
would nary survive
but would, instead,
be eaten alive
lest nefarious
kindness thrive
With distressing frequency
I hear of me said
“you’re a really nice guy but…”
by this introductory clause I know
that the door of advancement
is summarily shut
be it regarding employment
or in love’s entanglement
by that ‘but’ I am diminished
before the sentence
Is disparagingly finished
kindness should be lauded
not punished
Oh please speed the day
when compassion and civility reign
macho bravado and meanness disdain
kindness will rule omnipotent finally
inexorably abolishing cruelty

Ohh my lovely friend, I am so very proud of you and all your hard work turning NaPo into a successful endeavor and something that you can be utterly proud of. I know exactly how hard it is to write every day and I tip my hat to you!
Hooray and Yippee!!! 🏆
This piece should make for a sad ending... but I will let it be a moment of reminder to me and in turn, me saying to you my truth of life. I fully believe nice guys win, in the end. Being nice, doesn't have to mean being a pushover. (not that you or anyone in ref to this poem is)
That stigma from my youth of the bad boy vs the nice guy.... is null and fucking void. In my truest heart of hearts, I'd pick the nice guy in my professional and personal life... every time.
Just my thoughts...
I thought this write was raw, honest and open. I adore those, even if they hurt... They're reflective of living fearlessly on the page... and THAT'S outstanding writing, IMO.
I thank you for sharing all your loveliness that's GW (and BB) with us. I have been honored, kind sir... what a pleasure.

Where in Canada were you?? Corner Gas is a favorite. I love Saskatchewan. I hope I can get inspired to write some good stuff ;)
