even in our happiest moments
it hung over both of us.
uncertainty plagued the air
following us
while still, somehow,
always beating us there.
uninhibited,
our desire magnified with every shared glance –
however quickly –
turned away by the things we wish we couldn’t see.
Fantastically growing
and collapsing
all at once.

A climax is just the beginning of the end.

Hi, they'rejustwords. This is the type of poetry that pulls me right into its melancholy; or, should I say nostalgia. There's a nice contrast—a push/pull of uncertainly in trying to catch up to something; perhaps love. The thing I enjoyed about this is the subtle and very well-done allusion to an orgasmic collision which doesn't necessarily imply its sexual in nature. It could be emotional, or intellectual. . .
This poem makes me feel as though you are trying to catch up to something, or someone, who continues to remain just outside of your grasp.

I like how this poem starts with “even in our happiest moment” showing that nobody is safe even when you think you are.
